Kmart mums go crazy for $15 kids’ air fryer toy
If there’s a kitchen appliance that almost always gets people excited, it’s an air fryer. But this is the popular gadget as you’ve never seen before.
There’s no denying that busy parents around the country have fallen in love with air fryers – notably for making healthy alternatives in a fraction of the time.
And with the kitchen gadget continuing to rise in popularity, Kmart thought – why not have a toy version so kids can get in on the action too.
The retailer has released a very “realistic” play version of the appliance that looks so alike, it baffled one shopper.

The nine-piece set comes with a green plastic air fryer, complete with a see-through tray and buttons for program choice, as well as (fake) fries and chicken nuggets for food.
If that’s not impressive enough, it also makes “realistic cooking sounds” and has an LCD time function.
And it all comes with a price tag of just $15 – part of the reason why parents are going wild for it.
“Isn’t this the cutest lil air fryer you’ve ever seen,” one woman posted in the group Kmart Hacks & Decor.
Her post has since been inundated with hundreds of comments from fellow parents eager to nab the bargain buy.
“Mums always get more excited than the kids,” one group member joked.
“Damn I gotta go to Kmart for my granddaughter again,” wrote another.
“It was only a matter of time,” a third person said, while a fourth also joked it was “the only air fryer she can afford”.
One woman was so taken by its design, she thought it was real.

“Thought it was a real one at first, same colour as my toaster and kettle thought have to get that, then saw the price and thought that’s definitely a toy one! lol,” she responded to the post.
But as Kmart clearly explains on its site: “This is a toy, intended for role play only.”
It runs on battery and is suitable for kids over the age of three. Although its recommended they be supervised.
