We’ve heard of grand romantic gestures … and then there’s … whatever this is.

Podcaster and influencer Jordan Simi has revealed his cringeworthy ploy to “win back” his ex-girlfriend, fellow influencer and One Mile The Label founder Sammy Robinson.

After taking their relationship public via their various social media platforms earlier this year, the couple broke up about two months ago – with Robinson blocking Simi on Instagram and removing all photos of them together.

But according to Simi, Robinson – who rose to fame as one of Australia’s most beloved beauty and fashion YouTubers, and boasts 662,000 followers on Instagram – “is the love my life”, and the reason why he’ll make his boxing debut against NRL great Justin Hodges tonight.

“I’ve actually invited her to the fight, she is the love of my life,” Simi told The Daily Telegraph earlier this week.

“I was saying to [promoters] George and Matt Rose, ‘I’m fighting for love here’.

“That’s why I’m doing this. I thought I need a fight so I can win and then look down the lens and say, ‘Hey, I love you, take me back’ … The main thing for me is, I love this girl.

“I’m a bit of a romantic like that. I thought, ‘What is a big stage close by that I can tell the world I love her?’

“And this boxing thing jumped in my lap and I’m like, ‘This is it’ … Hopefully I’ll get the win.”

Sharing a screenshot of The Daily Telegraph story to his Instagram, Simi likened the gesture to Nicholas Sparks’ iconic romance The Notebook.

The 27-year-old revealed on Tuesday that Robinson will be ringside as he’d hoped.

“I spoke to her, the boys have spoken to her and got her and friends coming,” he told The Telegraph.

“So it worked, it’s working. All I need to do is win the fight.”

Simi said despite criticism that his intentions behind entering the ring were “an insult to professional boxing”, “I’m excited to go out there and put on a show, and the love of my life will be there”.

“That’s my reason why I decided to jump in the ring, but who knows where it’s going to go after that,” he added.

While the likes of Jarryd Hayne commented on Simi’s post to applaud his efforts, some took issue with the fact he’s treating Robinson like a prize to be “won”.

“Why fight? If she loves you she doesn’t need you to fight for her,” one follower wrote.

While another said, “Run for the hills, Sammy.”
