An Australian influencer has landed herself in hot water over a response she made during an Instagram Q&A.

An Australian influencer has been slammed after she posted a photo at a gun range in response to being asked her favourite thing about America.

Mikaela Testa, an OnlyFans creator, was taking part in a Q&A on her Instagram story earlier this week where she answered questions from her followers.

One query was, “Fave thing about America?” to which she simply replied with a photo of herself at a gun range.

The post was picked up by Instagram page Influencer Updates Au, which called the response – among a series of others – “controversial”.

Several others took offence to the post, which was shared just days after the country had yet another mass shooting that left at least nine people dead after a gunman opened fired on a shopping centre in Texas.

The gunman – who authorities said acted alone – was killed by a police officer on Saturday after he began firing outside the Allen Premium Outlets mall in Allen, Texas.

First responder Steven Spainhouer described the horror of arriving at the scene, explaining how some victims were so injured they had to be loaded into police cars to get to hospital as quick as possible.

He told CBS News that one little girl he tried to help was crouched covering her head in the bushes and, after checking her pulse, he realised she had no face.

Outraged at Testa’s post in the days after the horrifying event, one social media user said: “I like Mik, but the gun is really insensitive.”

Another said: “Best part of America is the guns? There was a mass shooting a few days ago at a shopping mall. Nine killed including children, seven others injured. I don’t care if she wants me to die off but promoting guns in America is just idiotic.”

Others tried to defend the influencer, saying she clearly meant the gun range and not gun violence.

“Lmao she obviously meant shooting at a gun range, bro. They do tours, I did it in Bali, Dubai and Hawaii,” one social media user said.

Testa also commented on the post by the influencer watchdog account.

“How is it controversial? I love the shooting ranges and Vegas like … why would I ever be talking about gun violence?” she said.

“We both know whatever I said or did wouldn’t be enough to make y’all happy. I’m not gonna bother deleting or even communicating with anybody that follows this page because we all know why you’re here.”

Other Q&A responses that were labelled as controversial by Influencer Updates Au included Testa saying older women were mean to her in real life.

“I can’t wait until that generation has died off sorry (but not really),” she said.

She also said if she hadn’t begun an OnlyFans account she would be studying aeronautical engineering and working at NASA or SpaceX.
