How to fix clothes that shrink in dryer

It’s an issue most of us have faced at least once after doing laundry – and now one woman has shared her solution to clothes that shrink.

We’ve all been there – thrown a favourite piece of clothing in the washer and dryer, only to have it shrink in the process.

Most of us are guilty of then throwing the item of clothing in the back of a wardrobe to be forgotten about, but one mum has shared her solution to the annoying problem.

In a video posted to TikTok that’s since been viewed more than 269,000 times, @bonniewyrick shared how you could fix clothes that had shrunk by soaking it in hair conditioner.

“Ever shrink your clothes in the dryer?” Bonnie captioned the video. “Hot water with ¼ cup of cheap hair conditioner.”

All you needed to do was then hang up the item of clothing and “gently pull in all directions to stretch”, she instructed.

The hack was praised as “life-changing”, with one person commenting: “The amount of things I learn on TikTok is amazing.”

“I tried this on a pair of shorts and it worked so well!!! Yay!” another commented.

“I needed this!! When my husband does laundry, he always puts the wrong things in the dryer,” one person also wrote.

Some shared the other methods they used to fix clothes that had shrunk, from using steam to always straightening clothes out after washing.

“Or you could just iron it. that’s what I usually do,” one person wrote, while another added:

“My grandma taught me to stretch it when it comes out of the wash. never used the conditioner hack.”
