Georgia Love and Lee Elliott’s awkward dance fail

Georgia Love has shared footage of her and husband Lee Elliott’s hilarious failed attempt at the iconic Dirty Dancing lift.

Ch7 reporter's awkward dance fail

It’s possibly the world’s most famous dance move – and one they’ve perfected multiple times before.

But Channel 7 reporter and former Bachelorette Georgia Love and her husband Lee Elliott weren’t quite as lucky when they attempted to recreate the iconic Dirty Dancing lift in a Melbourne pub recently.

Sharing footage of the hilarious mishap on her Instagram, Love wrote: “How it started vs. how it’s going”.

The clip showed her and Elliott nailing the lift at their March wedding in Tasmania, before transitioning into a video of their most recent attempt.

Elliott lifted Love up, before she toppled over his head and landed headfirst in the couch cushions behind them.

“This still gives me PTSD!” Elliott commented on the footage, while Love said she was “OK” after the accident, just left with “a bruised leg and also ego”.

Her followers were quick to comment that while they were thankful she didn’t sustain any serious injuries, they couldn’t stop watching the video “over and over”.

As well as performing the lift at their wedding, the couple also recreated it during a date on their season of The Bachelorette.

The star, who in September found herself removed from on-camera duties at Channel 7 after making racist remarks about Asian restaurants, recently hit out at her followers for questioning whether she was pregnant in a post announcing she and Elliott had bought a house.

Among the congratulatory comments on the post, some fans asked whether her placement of her cat, Pawdry Hepburn, was to “hide” something else.

“Looks to me there will be an another happy announcement post soon,” one person claimed.

“What are you suggesting?” Love replied.

On her Instagram Story, Love wrote she was “unbelievably finding myself once again fielding numerous questions about whether or not I’m pregnant”.

While stressing that she “still” wasn’t expecting, Love added that it was “not OK to ask or assume”.

“If you think I have a baby belly, that’s just my shape,” she said.

“If I have a ‘glow’ it’s because I have a good skincare routine.

“There’s any others reasons you thought to ask, stop. Think again. And remember that it is a totally unacceptable question or suggestion to ever make.”

It’s been a rocky year for the 33-year-old, who was called out after a “grammar note” email she sent to the Channel 7 Melbourne newsroom in October was leaked to the Herald Sun.

In the email, Love had asked her colleagues not to use the American-style plural “surgeries” in their reporting.

In response senior reporter Nathan Templeton wrote Love’s email was “not helpful or reasonable”.

“Please carry on your great work and forget about it,” he added. “You’re all doing a great job under difficult circumstances.”

She also came under fire after posting a video to her Instagram Story of a cat inside an Asian restaurant with the question: “Shop attendant or lunch?!”

While Love apologised and claimed she “meant for this to be a joke about an animal being in a restaurant at lunch service time”, another post resurfaced of her making a similar racist remark about an Asian restaurant.

In response, Channel 7 removed her from her on-air role and into a producer one.

“We have addressed this matter internally and disciplinary action has been taken. Seven does not condone this inappropriate conduct and all of our staff have the right to work in a safe, nurturing workplace free from prejudice,” the network said in a statement at the time.

In a further apology to staff, Love said she was “devastated” and “deeply sorry” for any hurt caused by her remarks.
