Georgia Love hits out at ‘totally unacceptable’ question

The former Bachelorette star has hit out at her followers after receiving an unwanted – and inappropriate – response on Instagram.

Georgia Love faces fallout from casually racist Instagram post

Georgia Love has hit out at her followers who questioned if she was pregnant following her latest post, branding the queries “totally unacceptable”.

The Bachelorette star, who last month found herself removed from on-camera duties at Channel 7 after making racist remarks about Asian restaurants, posted photos to Instagram celebrating her house purchase with husband Lee Elliott.

But among the congratulatory comments from fans were some questioning whether her placement of cat Pawdry Hepburn was to ‘hide’ something else.

“Looks to me there will be an another happy announcement post soon,” one person claimed.

“What are you suggesting?” Love replied.

On her Instagram Story, Love said she was “unbelievably finding myself once again fielding numerous questions about whether or not I’m pregnant”.

While stressing that she “still” wasn’t expecting, Love wrote that it was “not OK to ask or assume”.

“If you think I have a baby belly, that’s just my shape,” she said. “If I have a ‘glow’ it’s because I have a good skincare routine.

“If there’s any other reasons you thought to ask, stop. Think again.

“And remember that it is a totally unacceptable question or suggestion to ever make.”

It’s not the first time Love has spoken out on the issue, revealing in 2019 that the speculation around her body made her feel “like it’s not good enough”.

Love called out in leaked workplace email

Over the weekend a “grammar note” email Love sent to the Channel 7 Melbourne’s newsroom was leaked to the Herald Sun.

In the email, Love had asked her colleagues not to use the American-style plural “surgeries” in their reporting.

In response senior Seven reporter Nathan Templeton wrote back, saying Love’s email was “not helpful or reasonable”.

“Please carry on your great work and forget about it,” he added. “You’re all doing a great job under difficult circumstances.”

Love has been working for Channel 7 as a producer since being dumped from her reporter role with the network last month.

She had come under fire after posting a video to her Instagram Story of a cat inside an Asian restaurant with the question: “Shop attendant or lunch?!”

While Love apologised and claimed she “meant for this to be a joke about an animal being in a restaurant at lunch service time”, another post resurfaced of her making a similar racist remark about an Asian restaurant.

The Instagram meme, which Love posted in 2013, featured an animal hospital next door to a restaurant called China Chef.

Underneath the photo is a cartoon image of a dog with eyes narrowed, saying: “That’s suspicious.”

The Seven Network issued a statement which said: “We have addressed this matter internally and disciplinary action has been taken. Seven does not condone this inappropriate conduct and all of our staff have the right to work in a safe, nurturing workplace free from prejudice.”

In an apology to staff, Love said she was “devastated” and “deeply sorry” for any hurt caused by her remarks.
