Queensland fitness guru Emily Skye says bloating is 'normal'

Aussie fitness star Emily Skye has revealed the shocking comment a fellow model made while the pair were on a photoshoot about 10 years ago.

In an Instagram post, Emily who is the creator of Emily Skye Fit, explained that the model, who’s identity she did not disclose, told her “fitness models don’t have belly fat”.

Emily said the woman allegedly made the remark while pointing at her “lower belly bulge”.

“I was sitting down eating lunch at a photoshoot when it happened. After the girl said that I didn’t finish eating my lunch because I freaked out and felt extremely insecure for the rest of the shoot,” Emily told her 2.5 million followers.

“I then became obsessed with trying get rid of this ‘stubborn belly fat’.

“No matter what I did I couldn’t get rid of it. I was super lean, had visible abs and yet the lower part of my belly stuck out a little.”

Emily told her fans to scroll across to the next slide which showed a picture of what she had looked like at the time in 2013.

The image showed the Gold Coast model, fitness guru and co-owner of cosmetics brand James Cosmetics, wearing a matching pink crop and briefs with her lean figure on full display.

“I wish I could go back in time and tell myself it’s NORMAL and not to worry about it!!!” Emily continued.

“Since I can’t do that I’ll tell anyone who’ll listen now!!!”

The mother-of-two, who is often praised for sharing raw and honest posts, said there was a lot of pressure on women to “be everything and to look a certain way”.

“You know, most of us aren’t anatomically MEANT to have a flat lower tummy,” she said in her post.

“We have a bulge there because we have a uterus, we have other essential organs and we have some essential fat to protect our reproductive system.

“During different times of the month it’s NORMAL to have fluid retention and bloating too!!”

She then shared a video which showed that she also experiences bloating.

“No matter what you see on social media today, tomorrow, next week, next month … Do not let it make you feel sh*t about yourself because your belly isn’t washboard flat or your booty isn’t round or you’re not ‘slim thick’.

“How a body shape can be in fashion is beyond me!”

Emily went on to say a woman’s body is “amazing” just as it is.

“EVEN when you’re bloated!! It’s keeping you alive!”

The 36-year-old purposely posts photos showing her differences, to prove no one is perfect – not even social media influencers.

She recently shared a video proudly showing off her “crinkly” skin after being accused of Photoshopping.

In the post, she revealed that some of her fans were convinced she had been editing her images.

However, the Gold Coast trainer made it clear she has never done, nor will ever do such a thing.

“I just wanted to jump on and point out something that might be obvious to a lot of you and may not for others,” Emily said in her video from October.

“I have been accused of many things but lately it’s been Photoshopping out my crinkly skin which is weird because I make a point of showing it.

“I would never Photoshop it out. Never, ever, ever. Never have, never would.”

In June, she shared a series of transformation photos, saying it has taken her almost one year to feel fit again after giving birth to her son.
