Donald Trump’s 18-year-old son ‘steals spotlight’ at inauguration
Donald Trump’s teen son has proved he’s just as popular as the US President, with crowds roaring as the 18-year-old mimicked his powerful father.
Donald Trump introduced his “very tall son” Barron at the presidential parade, prompting loud cheers as the 18-year-old stood up to address crowds.
The 78-year-old was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday and is currently celebrating his official appointment with a series of “extravagant” speeches.
At one stage he called out his family members, one by one, to bask in his victory – including his youngest child Barron, famed for being significantly taller than his parents.
“I have a very tall son named Barron. Has anyone ever heard of him?” the president said.
Barron appeared to enjoy the attention, standing up to wave to the huge crowd.

He also confidently held his hand to his ear, signalling for fans to cheer louder.
The president appeared very proud at the reaction, thanking the crowd, before he credited Barron for helping with his successful re-election campaign.
“You know we won the youth vote by 36 points, and he would say, ‘Dad, you gotta go on Joe Rogan and do all these guys [podcasts]... he understood it very well,” Mr Trump said.
At one stage, Barron – who some are describing as Mr Trump’s “heir” – even recreated his dad’s iconic hand gesture, holding a fist pump up to the crowd as onlookers cheered: “Barron, Barron, Barron.”
“The crowd went WILD!!!” one attendee noted on X.
“The noise is deafening,” another agreed.

Mr Trump’s comments come after social media blew up over Barron’s height, with the young man growing significantly since his dad’s previous inauguration in 2017 when he was just 10.
Barron’s dramatic height, estimated to a staggering 205cms (6ft 9), has been a huge surprise to many, even leaving experienced news anchors “speechless”.
In contrast, the returning president stands at 190cms tall (6ft 3 inches) while Melania, Barron’s mother, is 175cms (5ft 9).
Many have noted online that the teen is “towering” not just over the President, but also over other famous guests including Elon Musk.
“Barron Trump stood out at the inauguration literally! His height towers over everyone else,” one X user noted.
“He stands out due to his impressive height, easily outpacing everyone around him,” mused someone else.
As another agreed: “Barron Trump taller than everyone in the room.”
“Watching the inauguration made me realise how tall Barron Trump is,” added one.
“Trump’s son has stolen the spotlight, that’s for sure,” chipped in another.
Barron’s height floors TV presenters
The topic even left two CNN commentators “momentarily speechless” during the network’s live coverage of the event.
“Yes, he’s very tall,” one noted, as the other laughed: “Yes it’s hard to miss Barron Trump... he’s got two very tall parents.”
The interaction was captured by social media users and shared online where many weighed-in on the subject.
“Yes, tall people exist,” one replied.
“How did they not know Barron was tall?” another asked.
Poised for the ‘spotlight’
A video circulating online of the young man positioned almost perfectly behind the podium bearing the presidential seal suit illustrates Barron’s difference to those around him.
The clip shows the 18-year-old in a dark blue tailored suit, offering a polite smile and wave to an unseen audience member like a politician in waiting, with many suggesting it was a symbolism of his future.
“The Trump Dynasty is in good hands,” one said.
“He has changed so much in four years, what a handsome young man,” noted another.
One commented: “The next generation stepping into the spotlight — history always finds its way forward.”
So grown up compared to President Trump’s 2017 inauguration
Others noted how much Barron had grown since his father’s first inauguration back in 2017 when he was just 10-years-old.
At the time, the president’s son wore a navy overcoat with a matching tie and white shirt visible underneath.
His blonde hair was also worn loose. In contrast, on Monday his locks were slicked back for a “sophisticated” look.
Barron was largely shielded from the political spotlight during and after his father’s first White House term — in contrast to his adult siblings, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric and Tiffany.
Barron’s ‘custom’ navy suit
Ahead of the inauguration, the New York University student selected several outfit options from Bespoke Pearce, according to the brand’s chief executive officer Nathan Pearce.
He also chose an “ultra-dark charcoal cashmere overcoat”.
His wardrobe selects all had to be custom made due to his unusual height, Mr Pearce told WWD, while also giving insights into the teen’s little-known personality.
“He’s this super-bright kid. He’s well beyond his years in terms of experience, knowledge, history. He’s just very fascinating to talk to,” Mr Pearce said.
“You know what is another word I would say [about him]? Hospitable. He is down-to-earth, nice as can be and hospitable.”
