A bizarre video showing an exuberant Elon Musk and a subdued Barron Trump has emerged as Donald Trump took office on Tuesday.
The billionaire shared a seven-second clip on X after the ceremony, with the caption: “American is going to Mars!”
In the video, Musk can be seen laughing and cheering with the crowd during a speech. He was standing next to Barron, whose reaction was comparatively subdued.
Donald Trump’s youngest child applauded with the crowd, but his face was almost expressionless.
X users were quick to point out the stark difference between them. One asked: “What is the meaning of Barron’s face?”
Another said: “Barron looks like he’d rather be anywhere else but there right now.”
Referring to the mars expedition caption, a third person said: “Barron looks like he’s already been there and wasn’t impressed.”
Someone else wrote: “Elon is the energy I wish I could give but Barron is the energy I usually present in public.”
One user also compared them to two “very different” siblings on a family holiday.
‘It’s like in elementary school when they put the kid with a lot of energy, next to the quiet well behaved one in hopes they keep them in check,’ another added.
Barron Trump had earlier caused a frenzy at the Capital One Arena, with the crowd chanting his name as he took to the stage to sit with family members behind the presidential lectern.
Trump, who towers over his parents at more than two metres tall, appeared slightly surprised by the crowd’s reaction when he made his appearance.
The crowd applauded as Mr Trump’s five children and his daughter-in-law, Lara, and Melania Trump’s father, Viktor took to the stage.
The MAGA faithful cheered even louder when Barron Trump appeared, with supporters chanting the 18-year-old’s name.
Earlier, university student Barron set the internet alight with watchers calling him a future president.
Observers noted his slicked back hair and sharp navy suit as he stood behind his father alongside his mother Melania Trump during the inauguration.
Barron made quite an impact with his grown up look, a contrast with how he looked at his father’s first inauguration when he was only 10-years-old.
Recently, Mr Trump, has been talking up Barron as a potential successor, praising his intellect and his much-discussed height.
He’s also got the ear of the US President and it was he who suggested his father go on Joe Rogan’s podcast, which gave him a last minute boost in the polls prior to the election.
Barron, however, will be based mainly in New York during his father’s presidency, where he is studying at university, but will have a room at the White House, where he can bring friends, according to his mum.
While Mr Trump may be a divisive figure, all of his five children from his three different marriages were stood side-by-side, as they proudly watched him being sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
With his three sons, all in navy suits and half sister Tiffany, 31, in a floor length navy velvet coat, it was left to eldest daughter Ivanka Trump, 43, to stand out in a forest green pencil skirt and jacket, and a matching beret style hat.
Ivanka, who was a central figure and close adviser to her 78-year-old father during his first administration, has been dubbed Mr Trump’s “favourite” child, by her brothers Donald Trump Jr., 47, and Eric Trump, 41.
The once touted political heir to her father has ruled herself out as a future president and has spoken of her hatred of politics, following her father’s election loss in 2020.
The public backlash that ensued caused Ivanka and husband Jared Kushner 44, to leave New York for Miami with their three children Arabella Rose, 13, Joseph, 11, and Theodore, eight. All three were seen walking in to the inauguration ceremony with their parents. Arabella in a beige cape coat and pants.
In the run up to the election, while Ivanka kept a low profile, her brothers have come to the fore, campaigning on their father’s behalf, speaking at rallies and backing him in rows on social media.
The eldest three are Mr Trump’s children with his first wife, socialite and businesswoman Ivana Trump, who died in 2022, aged 73, after a fall at her apartment.
While they don’t hold any cabinet positions, they are both trusted unofficial advisers, with Donald Trump Jr’s friend JD Vance winning the Vice President’s role.
Eric even appears to have gained some political esteem with his father via his wife Lara, the 42-year-old triathlete who took on a pivotal role during the campaign as co-chair of the Republican National Convention.
Finally, there’s Tiffany, 31, the often forgotten daughter to second wife Marla Maples.
While, Ivanka, has often been praised by her father as “beautiful”, poor Tiffany has often been ignored when it comes to having any influence or political nouse, despite being the only child who went to law school.
