Customers outraged after finding Easter chocolate at Big W

Christmas hams haven’t even been placed in the oven yet but already one department store is turning its head to another holiday.

Big W shoppers are going nuts over this summer item

Santa and the reindeer haven’t even taken to the skies to deliver Christmas cheer yet but the Easter bunny is already hopping into department stores, frustrating shoppers.

Eagle-eyed customers have spotted that a Big W in Macarthur Square, in southwest Sydney, was selling Ferrero Rochers chocolates with Easter packaging.

One woman took to popular Facebook page Markdown Addicts Australia to share her annoyance.

“Easter eggs! on the 22nd December! What is this monstrosity,” the woman posted.

She added the hashtag #letsgetoverXmasfirst to her post.

Many were annoyed by the chocolates being on sale.

One said: “No! Finish one seasonal holiday first.”

“Shame on the shop, and the supplier,” another added to the thread.

Another said: “Oh I saw that today when I was there I was like WTF.... And almost all their Christmas section has been replaced with back to school stuff already....”

But some people said there were bigger issues than the chocolate being on sale.

“If people didn’t buy them they wouldn’t sell them. Don’t buy them if you don’t want to. I don’t understand why it’s such and issue for people when stores do this,” one said.

Another added: “Low key keen for hot cross buns.”

One said: “I love seeing these things early. It means people doing it tough have time to buy little bits at a time making it more affordable for them!”

A spokesperson from the department store chain responded to the commentary.

“At Big W we know our customers like to plan their shops ahead,” the Big W spokesperson said.

“Providing customers with a selection of Easter products early allows them time to spread out their spending over a few months or the opportunity to enjoy a few favourites in the lead-up.”
