Caitlyn Jenner slammed for post about trans woman’s ‘penis’

The world’s most famous trans woman has come under fire after posting about another prominent trans woman’s ‘penis’.

Dylan Mulvaney claps back at Caitlyn Jenner

A trans woman has been praised for calling out Caitlyn Jenner, who famously won Glamour’s Woman of the Year after transitioning from male-to-female, for misgendering her.

Dylan Mulvaney, who lives in California, has documented her life transitioning from male to female on TikTok and garnered 8.7 million followers in the process as she documents her life in a “Days of Girlhood” series.

Caitlyn, 73, took to Twitter after United States senator from Tennessee, and Republican, Marsha Blackburn, shared a video of Dylan’s from her 73rd day of girlhood.

In the clip, Dylan talked about how she wore a pair of shorts shopping and realised many people stared at her crotch.

“I realised my crotch doesn’t look like other women’s,” Dylan said in the clip, before going on to talk about her experience.

Caitlyn, who has been outspoken about things such as transgender athletes not taking part in sports as their transitioned gender, took to Twitter, and reposted the senator’s clip.

“@MarshaBlackburn thank you for speaking out and having a backbone – one of the best senators we have. Let’s not ‘normalise’ any of what this person is doing. This is absurdity,” Caitlyn wrote online.

“There is a difference between acceptance and tolerance, and normalising exposing your genitalia in a public way and a public place. I do not support that at all, in the slightest. Dylan … congrats your trans with a penis.”

In response to a woman, who was born female, asking Caitlyn to remove the tweet after explaining they too have a natural bulge in their genitalia and find it hard to find suitable clothing, the former Olympian said: “He is talking about his penis!”

Dylan, who recently sat down with US President Joe Biden, took to TikTok to respond to Caitlyn’s comments.

“We are two of the most privileged trans women in America at the moment and with that comes a lot of responsibility,” Dylan said.

“Although we have very different views on most things, a few days ago I still would have been willing to sit down with you because I automatically have a lot of respect for you as a fellow trans woman.

“But then you decided to ridicule me very publicly. The first tweet didn’t phase me all that much but then this one [misgendering me] made me go ah – not you calling me a he!”

“But you didn’t stop there.”

The musical theatre star said Caitlyn made her sound like she was a “creepy flasher” exposing herself when, in actual fact, she was just wearing shorts at the mall.

“In this moment, I wasn’t as comfortable as talking about my private parts as I was when I made that video and it felt like I got outed,” Dylan said.

“I didn’t know how to fully tuck that early on, and I was still wearing Calvin Klein men’s underwear. But after that video two amazing trans women gifted me tucking panties because they could tell I was struggling.”

Tucking is a practice used by many trans women and drag queens in order to create a crotch similar to people who at anatomically female.

Dylan asked Caitlyn to think back to her early days of transitioning, where she was embarrassed of her body and had people stare at her, like Dylan did when she made the original video, more than 150 days ago.

She said Caitlyn turned what was meant to be a reclaim into something really ugly, adding that she didn’t start the series because being a girl sounded but but because of the “unspoken shame of being newly trans”.

Dylan, who is always willing to listen to people’s thoughts and feelings when it comes to the way she represents women, said she and Caitlyn come from different generations and the older woman is much further along in her journey.

“But I cheered you on from the second you came out, truly, and I’m so happy you’ve had the surgeries you’ve desired, but I’m 25 and I am on day 233,” she said.

“I can’t even get bottom surgery now if I wanted to because I haven't been on hormones long enough. This whole situation makes me not want to share my surgical plans because so many don’t have access to it or don’t want it – and it doesn’t make them any less of a woman.”

Dylan said the situation cemented that the pair had nothing in common – except sharing the same surgeon – and she didn’t ever want to sit down with Caitlyn.

She also urged Caitlyn not to tarnish her reputation with her daughters and she really wanted to meet them one day, before telling her followers not to send any hate Caitlyn’s way, as well as urging the reality star to “be patient” with her.

In the day’s since her comments, Caitlyn said: “I have never received more death threats, death threats to my team, nasty hate mail than this week.

“It is all from the so called ‘inclusive’ LGBT community. I am so disgusted by the hateful individuals threatening my life for giving my opinions on news topics of the day.”

Dozens rushed to praise Dylan for her video, with influencer Lacey-Jade Christie saying: “Your grace and positivity never cease to amaze me.”

Another said: “You are so much kinder about this than I would be. Thank you for being an inspiration.”

Dylan is known for her grace when it comes to speaking to the people who have chosen to mock her online – with one unidenitifed woman cruelly imitating Dylan, dressing up in fantastical outfits with exaggerated makeup and a drawn-on beard, before stealing the trans star’s well-known tagline detailing what day of her girlhood she is on.

But after walking in New York Fashion Week, which received much praise, Dylan decided to address the troll’s “nasty” videos.

Dylan said she understands the person mocking her thinks it’s comedy, and they are clearly putting a lot of time, effort and money into doing so.

“You’re doing all these things to mock me, and more specifically, I think you just kind of hate trans people,” Dylan said.

“You can make fun of my voice, outfits and personality as much as you want but you don’t get to mock my identity.”

The 25-year-old said she thinks the original poster believes Dylan is taking away from their womanhood but actually wants to support them.

She even took the time to give the cisgender woman advice, saying that lowbrow comedy, like mocking trans people, is “the lowest form of comedy”.

Her response was praised by followers and other content creators.
