A transgender woman who documents her journey of girlhood on social media has been praised for clapping back at a cruel troll who mocked her.

Dylan Mulvaney, who lives in California, has documented her life transitioning from male to female on TikTok and garnered 7.5 million followers in the process.

The actress, who was touring in musical Book Of Mormon prior to the pandemic, has been praised for her “positive” comeback to another social media user who mocked her daily vlogs.

The unidenitifed woman has been cruelly imitating Dylan, dressing up in fantastical outfits with exaggerated makeup and a drawn-on beard, before stealing the trans star’s well-known tagline detailing what day of her girlhood she is on.

But after walking in New York Fashion Week, which received much praise, Dylan decided to address the troll’s “nasty” videos.

“I know this is what you want – you want me to respond, to get attention,” Dylan said.

“I’ve seen your videos for a few weeks but I didn’t have time to respond as I was really busy auditioning to be in movies and walking in NYFW on a runway so sorry I didn’t get to you sooner.”

Dylan said she understands the person mocking her thinks it’s comedy, and they are clearly putting a lot of time, effort and money into doing so.

“You’re doing all these things to mock me, and more specifically, I think you just kind of hate trans people,” Dylan said.

“You can make fun of my voice, outfits and personality as much as you want but you don’t get to mock my identity.”

The 25-year-old said she thinks the original poster believes Dylan is taking away from their womanhood but actually wants to support them.

She even took the time to give the cisgender woman advice, saying that lowbrow comedy, like mocking trans people, is “the lowest form of comedy”.

“You have a few people who enjoy your videos now but that won’t last long – it’s gotten old already,” Dylan said.

“I’m also glad you’re doing it to me and not another trans person because I am OK right now – my life is going very well. I feel pretty happy.

“But if you had made this video when I was depressed – or suicidal – that would be really effed up. That would be on you. That would be evil.”

Dylan said she was glad it was about her and not another trans person who may be struggling.

She asked that with the state of the world right now – with anything possible – was “hatred” against the trans community really what the troll wanted as a legacy.

“Maybe that would make you happy but that doesn’t sound good or feel good, and I find it so wild that you think all I see of girlhood is wearing dresses, makeup and hair because that isn’t what I am doing here,” Dylan said.

“If you actually knew me, and knew who I am, you’d know that’s not why I am doing this.”

Dylan said viewing her like that was also a reason the troll was a bad comedian because they weren’t even picking up on what she was truly doing with her videos.

“But, I will tell you I’m a good person with a good heart and a woman, and I won’t sit here and tell you I’m more of a woman than you are because that would make you scoff,” she said. “But I see us as equals.

“I think you should put this time and effort into something else, not just content for the transphobic community.”

Dylan said she didn’t wish the person any ill will and finished the video noting all the positive things in her life.

Her response was praised by followers and other content creators.

“The fact that your response carried more positivity than negativity says SO MUCH about you. I love everything that you are. Sending so much love,” one person said.

“You are so mature. ily Dylan,” another said.

Another added: “In the words of Marilyn Monroe herself NEVER let anyone dull your sparkle. Love you lots Dylan.”

One final commenter said: “Beauty, grace, and best of all maturity. Dylan you are a great example of how women should handle hate. Mic drop!”

She struck several poses before skipping away, tossing her bag over her shoulder, as she made her way back up the runway.
