A British op shop has called for an end to the donation of used sex toys after being flooded with discarded “marital aids”.

The Barnardos’ branch in Gorseinon, Wales was forced to issue a public appeal after sustaining an avalanche of adult items.

The plea revealed the store is manned with the help underage volunteers, who often end up uncovering the naughty items while sorting through the donation pile,” The New York Post reports.

“Could those of you who kindly donate please be mindful that we are a CHILDREN’S CHARITY and as such we have a range of ages on our wonderful volunteer team,” the organisation wrote on Facebook.

“We therefore ask that you refrain from donating your used and unused marital aids!”

The thrift store further attempted to deter the drop-off of any more kinky collectibles by claiming that they have security cameras set up at their donation sites.

“These items can be traced back to their owners,” they warned.

In an additional statement, a spokesperson for Barnardos’ – which also operates in Australia – said they were looking to receive items of a more G-rated nature.

“We’re always hugely appreciative of donations from the community — but it’s fair to say that these items aren’t quite the sorts of toys we’re looking for,” the spokesperson stated.

The official did not disclose what kind of specific sex toys the Barnardos’ branch had received, but stressed donations of used clothes, shoes, jewellery and books were more appropriate.

“This winter, frontline staff at Barnardos’ will be helping struggling children and families by providing them with essential items like food and clothing,” the spokesperson added.

“The money raised from our shops helps us to carry on this vital work.”

While Barnardos’, a global charity that advocates for the safety of children at risk of abuse and neglect, has blocked sex toy donations due to young workers – there’s another reason to stop donating unwanted sex toys.

Recent research revealed as many as 14 per cent of adults don’t wash their intimate products properly, leading to poor sex toy hygiene that can actually cause infections
