Aussie teen slams trolls who say her 48yo boyfriend is too old for her

A NSW teenager whose boyfriend is nearly three times older than her has hit back at cruel comments about her age gap relationship.

A teenager has spoken out against cruel comments she receives about her age gap relationship.

Jorja McMahon, 19, fell in love with her boyfriend Graham, 48, after he helped pull her out of a very dark time in her life and get her back on track.

The McDonald’s worker explained that Graham’s kind heart and unwavering support is what initially sparked their close friendship and ignited her feelings for him.

After four months of friendship, Jorja confessed how she felt.

While she says he was initially hesitant due to their 29-year age gap, Jorja assured him that she was deeply in love and their difference in age was never a concern.

Now the couple have been together three months and are sharing their story to highlight the fact that age is just a number, and that “love is love” no matter what it looks like to others.

“We first met when I was in a hard living situation and was in a bad headspace,” she told News.com.au.

“I was sitting on the steps out the front of where we both used to live, waiting for a taxi to get to work. He stopped and spoke to me, and noticed I paid a lot of money for taxis.

“He offered to help me get to and from work if I put money in his account for fuel each week, which I was happy to do.

“He didn’t try to get in my pants like every other man has tried to, and he treated me with so much respect from the beginning. There was definitely chemistry.”

“He doesn’t look as old as he is, but out of respect he asked me if I was sure I wanted to go down this road with him due to his age.”

Jorja says when she and Graham first started dating, the couple were met with a lot of negative backlash due to their age gap.

Some cruel bullies even called Graham a “paedophile” and added that Jorja is only with him for financial reasons.

“We have received a lot of cruel comments about our relationship,” she said.

“I’ve even lost friends over it. People can have an opinion, but sometimes they should keep it to themselves.

“They’ve told me my partner is a paedophile, and I’m only with him for money.

“I’ve also had a lot of single friends get jealous with how he treats me, and have tried to flirt with him.

“We do get dirty looks when out in public, and people tell me my partner is old enough to me my dad. But then I politely explain that my dad is deceased, and they feel guilty.

“People think that this is just a phase for me, but it isn’t. I’ve genuinely found my soulmate.

“At the end of the day you can’t choose who you love. We eventually want to get married and have a baby together.

“I’ve always wanted to be a mum, and have a child with someone who treats me like a queen.

“I know our baby will be so dearly loved.”

Jorja stated that Graham has treated her better than anyone else she has been with and she already sees a bright future together – including marriage and children.

“I fell in love with him instantly. He treats me like an absolute queen,” she said.

“He supports me when I’m having a mentally bad day and don’t want to go to work, he helps with every doctor’s appointment.

“And he was there for me when I was rushed into emergency surgery, not even a month into us being together, and has constantly stuck by my side.

“He is so supportive and encouraging. He constantly reminds me how beautiful I am.

“I will forever be blessed and thankful to have him there for me.”
