An anonymous shopper has brought the Christmas spirit to Queensland by stopping into a toy store and paying off $16,000 worth of gifts.

Staff from Mr Toys Toyworld in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast told Sunrise the woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, paid off the balance on 80 outstanding lay-by presents last Thursday.

The woman said she’d made the kind gesture because 2020 had been such a difficult year for everybody.

Single mum Alannah Loadsman said the anonymous good Samaritan helped her pay off a $300 doll house, which she’d put down a $60 deposit for and was buying for her two kids.

She said she discovered the kind act when she was called by the toy shop.

“I called two days ago to add something to my lay-by and was advised that it had been paid off,” she said.

“They told me the lovely lady had come in and paid for everyone’s lay-by — it was just amazing.

Ms Loadsman said it was “just the most beautiful thing to do” and said she wished she could give the woman a “big hug”.
