THE hunt is on for this mystery man who smashed a car window and rescued a driver as his car dangled over a canyon.
The unidentified man saved the life of 23-year-old Mathew Sitko whose speeding SUV veered off the road, through a yard, struck a tree and drove over two terraces before coming to a stop on a wire fence over Bryden Canyon, Idaho.
“The mesh was the only thing holding (the car),” Lewiston police officer Eric Olson told the Lewiston Tribune.
The fence was stretched 12 metres but somehow managed to hold the car.
The hero of the day smashed the passenger-side window with a rock and pulled Mr Sitko to safety but he left as police arrived on the scene.
“He said he had to go, and he left,” Lewiston police officer Eric Olson said.
Mr Sitko only suffered minor injures.
Witnesses told police Mr Sitko was allegedly driving fast and erratically, and almost struck a motorist before the accident.
Police say they would love to chat to the unidentified man who saved Mr Sitko’s life.
