Daughter of fallen officer taken to school dance by her father’s colleagues
HERE’S a beautiful story to warm your Friday afternoon. Colleagues of a slain policeman helped his daughter in the sweetest way.
THE young daughter of a police officer who was killed on the job has been taken to her father-daughter dance by six of his former colleagues.
In 2011, Officer Tim Warren, was shot dead when he was attending to a domestic argument in Memphis, Tennessee. He left behind a wife and two children.
This month, his daughter, Jewel, received an invitation to a Father-Daughter dance, which she thought she couldn’t accept.
“Officer Warren’s daughter received an invitation to attend a father-daughter dance at her school. Sadden by the letter, she was at a loss,’ the Memphis Police Department wrote on their on Facebook page.
Jewel’s mum decided to contact two wives of officers within the police department about the invitation, who got to work to ensure Jewel could get to the dance.
The two women, Taylor Amen and Donna Kirk, asked six officers to escort Jewel to her dance, and made sure each of them gave her a red rose.
The women also a hair makeover, a photographer and even a 1972 Cutlass Supreme for Jewel to ride to the dance in.
“Both Ladies began making contact with key people who assisted with getting several officers to willingly donate their time and escort Warren’s daughter to her father-daughter dance,” the MPD said.
“We know we cannot replace Tim, but we can be there for his family when we are needed. It was truly a honour,” said Officer Amen.
“It was an honour to be able to attend this event and to help keep Tim’s memory alive,” said Officer Pfeil.
