School leaver job paying more than the average salary
A major employer is searching for bright youngsters looking to develop their early career skills, with no university degree required.
High school leavers looking to make some coin are being given the opportunity to step into a full-time role with a salary well above that of their peers.
The Australian Taxation Office is offering kids across the country the chance to get a “foot in the door” while earning a salary more than double that of the average Australian teen.
The 12-month program, which combines work experience and formal training, including a certificate course, will provide a youngster with a permanent, full-time job and a starting salary of almost $51,000, plus super.
Roles in administration, client engagement, data and analytics, and information technology are all on offer.
ATO Assistant Commissioner Kristy Dam said the program offers recently graduated Aussie teenagers an excellent pathway to kick off their careers.
“The ATO is a big organisation, with so many interesting potential career paths. If you’re not sure where your career may be heading or you’re not currently planning to go to uni, the ATO is a great option,” Ms Dam said.
“We’re a diverse organisation where you can make big things happen.”
Recruiters are on the hunt for teens with good communication and computer skills, as well as those who are resilient, flexible and independent.
“Team players” with a willingness to learn and embrace new challenges will be especially welcomed on-board by the ATO.
Caleb, a former program participant, said the initiative has given him the ability to upskill and build confidence in a supportive environment.
“I have worked with a large and professional group of colleagues who have assisted me every step of the way,” he said.
“This has helped me develop my knowledge and understanding of the ATO and has provided me with a strengthened structure for my future career.”
