TEENAGERS. They’re always on their phones, yet when their mum rings they suddenly can’t hear the call, or flat out ignore it.

One frustrated mother in the United States decided enough was enough after she tried calling her son one night, only to be ignored several times.

Sharon Standifird got the idea to develop an app that disables the child’s phone until they call their parent, CBS reports.

Ms Standifird, who has served in the Gulf War and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro is no stranger to challenges. She researched how to get apps developed online, and within a few months Ignore No More was born.

The app allows parents to add their children’s mobile devices and select the phone they want to remotely disable.

They input a four digit password, and lock their child’s phone remotely. The screen immediately goes black and the child must call their parent immediately (the lock enables the child to tap the screen and call parent contacts and emergency numbers).

Once satisfied their child is safe and in communication, the parent gives the child the code to unlock their phone.

Ms Standifird’s son Bradley isn’t such a fan of the idea though. “I thought it was a good idea, but for other people, not me,” he said.
