Fit star’s pregnant belly trick sparks concern

A fitness influencer has sparked concern among followers after making her blooming pregnancy bump “disappear” in a recent video.

Tammy Hembrow is currently expecting her third child, her first with fiance Matt Poole, due at the start of June.

However despite being 24 weeks pregnant, the popular YouTube star who has 14 million followers on Instagram, has appeared to make her baby bump disappear – sparking concern among followers.

The 27-year-old – who already has son Wolf, 6, and daughter Saskia, 5, with ex-fiancé Reece Hawkins – shared the baffling video on TikTok, to a KyleYouMadeThat song.

“When you’re over being pregnant,” she captioned the clip, that has been viewed over 12 million times since being shared Sunday.

In the video, Tammy can be seen looking directly into the camera which has a side angle of her body, her bump clearly visible.

But when the lyrics state“poof be gone”, the mum-to-be’s bump disappears, leaving followers asking: “Where has the baby gone?”

“The baby! Is it OK?” one asked.

“The poor baby OMG,” another said, adding a sad emoji.

While another wrote: “Legit question … wouldn’t that be bad for the baby? Like suddenly out of nowhere just tightening up everything … have studies been done on the shock?”

Another also asked: “I’m so confused – is there a baby or not?”

Tammy, who is expecting a girl, took to the comments to reassure fans the baby was “fine”.

“It’s actually recommended bracing ur [sic] core like this throughout pregnancy, especially since I train a lot. Bubby is just fine,” she wrote.

Health advice states core exercises during pregnancy are safe and can be beneficial, according to Baby Centre.

This is because a strong core helps stabilise your spine and maintain mobility and balance, which is crucial as your belly expands. It can also help with diastasis recti, a common pregnancy condition which causes the large abdominal muscles to separate.

However sit-ups and crunches are not recommended after the first trimester, with advice stating exercises that pull the core in from front and back to offer more support for your belly are the best options.

Tammy has been documenting her workouts during her pregnancy, recently sharing a leg workout with her followers when she was 22 weeks pregnant.

“Gym is my happy place. My stress reliever. Moving my body as much as possible for me and this baby. @tammyhembrowfitness,” she wrote.

In an earlier post, she also revealed she suffered with polyhydramnios – an excessive accumulation of amniotic fluid – in her previous pregnancies, but so far with her third bub she hadn’t developed the same condition.
