MAFS star reveals girlfriend’s ‘crazy’ pregnancy symptom

MAFS star Michael Brunelli has revealed his fiancee Martha Kalifatidis has been battling an unexpected issue after falling pregnant.

Man’s hilarious find about pregnant girlfriend

Reality TV star Michael Brunelli has shared the hilarious “learning experience” he’s had since his fiancee Martha Kalifatidis fell pregnant.

The former Married At First Sight contestant shared the “three things” he’s “learnt with a pregnant partner” in a video on Instagram – the first being that, according to Martha, Michael has “an odour nobody else in the world can smell, except for her”.

“Not my breath. Not my underarm. Not my sweat. Just an odour, that she can smell and nobody else,” he said.

“Number two – any time she wakes up in the middle of the night, I must be woken up. For no reason. With an elbow in the back.

“Number three. She’s grateful for everything I’ve done and everything I do for her but I am the most irritating person on the entire planet. When I breathe, when I speak, when I move – I’m annoying.”

Women have been quick to comment on Michael’s video, revealing they too acted similarly with their partner’s when expecting.

“The odour! It’s so true,” one remarked.

“So relatable,” another said.

As one wrote: “I you can relate to this from when I was preggo... especially the smelling funny part!”

“The odour is something I can relate too! I used the hate the smell of my husband when I was suffering with HG in my pregnancies too,” one mum agreed.

“When I was pregnant the smell of [my partner] would make me feel so sick. No one else could smell it and everyone thought I was crazy,” someone else mused.

The couple announced last week that they were expecting, with the 34-year-old sharing that she’d been suffering hyperemesis gravidarum – extreme morning sickness – leaving her bedridden for months.

“We wanted to explain our situation and make a little bit of an announcement. Martha is pregnant,” Michael said in a video shared to Instagram.

Martha added that while she didn’t “want to sound like I’m complaining”, her pregnancy thus far “hasn’t been this exciting, wonderful time for us”.

“We are so excited, we are so happy, it was a complete surprise. But at five weeks I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum – which is severe chronic nausea and vomiting with no relief,” she explained.

“It is 24-7. I literally didn’t get out of bed for two months. I was so sick. I could not eat or drink anything. There were days I didn’t even get up to pee. I lost 10kg in five weeks. We have been in and out of the emergency room and hospital.”

In a separate post, Michael described Martha as “a f***ing warrior”.

“The past few months have been tough. I watched Martha go from enjoying a holiday, to nervously celebrating a new stage in our life, to moaning in pain for hours and days on end,” he wrote.

“She has spent [the] best part of the last 10 weeks in bed 24 hours a day, dehydrated, nauseous, vomiting, restless, tired, anxious, fatigued and unable to properly sleep or eat. Multiple hospital visits, medications and medical opinions and still suffering through.

“But she is a f***ing warrior! And so is every other woman that is diagnosed with HG or any pregnancy-related condition.

“I can’t begin to imagine what it’s felt like for her, and while I’ve tried to help as much as I can, at times I’ve just felt completely helpless.

“I think about all the times she grabbed my hand and said, ‘Babe, please help,’ knowing full well I couldn’t do anything more for her, and it absolutely rips my heart out.”

Asked how she’s feeling now in a Q&A with her 654,000 Instagram followers overnight, Martha, now 16 weeks pregnant, revealed that she’d “had a few good days in the past three weeks, but still having some very grim nights and equally sh**ty days”.

“More recently some stunning headaches that cannot be stopped have been added to the mix. It’s been eye-opening,” she said.

“I’m grateful to be home and have so many people who care for me around all the time.”

And while she acknowledged that she’d “never been more irritated” by her partner, she called him “a f***ing SAINT”.

“He hasn’t left my side. If I’m [in the] shower, he’s there. If I throw up he’s there, telling me it’s OK,” she wrote.

“If I wake up, he wakes up. He brings me food at 4am, when the nausea wakes me. He gives me all my meds. I never would have been able to do this without him.”
