Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and wife Carrie have welcomed their third child after she gave birth to a baby boy.

Carrie announced she was pregnant again in May telling her Instagram followers the new baby would be born in “just a few weeks”, The Sun reports

On Tuesday, UK time, the 33-year-old revealed she had given birth to a healthy baby boy.

Posting a picture of the baby on Instagram, Mrs Johnson added the caption: “Welcome to the world Frank Alfred Odysseus Johnson born 5th July at 9.15am. (Can you guess which name my husband chose?!)”

Odyessus, also know as Ulysses, is a legendary Greek king and the hero of the epic poem The Odyssey, by Homer, published in 1614. Odyessus was known for his intellect and cunning.

Mrs Johnson told her followers that she was “loving every minute” of the “sleepy baby bubble”.

“Seeing my older two embrace their new brother with such joy and excitement has been the most wonderful thing to see. We are all very smitten,” she added.

“Thank you so much to the incredible NHS maternity team at UCLH. (University College London Hospital). They really are the most amazing, caring people. I feel such immense gratitude.

“Now, can anyone recommend any good series/box sets to binge while breastfeeding?

“Time for a drink.”

The couple, who married in July 2021, already share son Wilfred, three, and daughter Romy, one.

Rosemary Iris Charlotte – who goes by Romy – was born on December 9, 2021, and is named after Ms Johnson’s aunt Rosemary and Mr Johnson’s late mother.

Their son, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, was born in April 2020, just weeks after the then-prime minister spent time in intensive care with Covid-19.

Mr Johnson already has a number of children from previous relationships.

The birth of his third child with Mrs Johnson will bring the total up to eight and there is a 27 year age gap between his eldest Lara and Romy.

Mr Johnson resigned as prime minister in July 2022, when he stepped down from what he called “the best job in the world”.

In an address outside No10, the defeated PM said he was so “sad” to be forced out of the job he loves but conceded: “Them’s the breaks.”

It is currently unknown whether Mr Johnson will take paternity leave as MP to spend time with his family.

Before the birth of Wilfred, he had said he wanted to take a fortnight off when his baby was born in June. But Wilfred was born on April, 29, 2020, when Mr Johnson was recovering from coronavirus.

According to Government rules, Mr Johnson must take his two-week paternity leave within 56 days of the child’s birth.
