The girlfriend of the teenager who was killed at the Royal Sydney Easter Show has given birth to a son, naming him after his slain dad.

Teenager killed in Sydney Easter Show brawl

The girlfriend of the 17-year-old teenager stabbed at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show has given birth to a son – and paid a touching tribute to the baby’s slain dad.

The baby boy’s mother, Taylor Piliae, 18, named the child Uati, after his slain father, Uati ‘Pele’ Faletolu.

The teen was allegedly stabbed in the chest with a knife amid a brawl while working at the fairground’s Break Dance ride on April 11. While emergency services rushed to the scene, paramedics were unable to save him.

Following baby Uati’s birth, Ms Piliae’s younger sister Bree, shared the news on Instagram.

“Welcome to the world bubba. My heart’s so full. I love you so much,” she wrote.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, relatives confirmed both baby Uati and Taylor were doing well.

In the aftermath of the alleged stabbing, Taylor shared a heartbreaking tribute to her slain partner.

“Missing you so much Uati, so heartbroken. You are not here but I know God’s gotchu now and that you are in a better place and that you are happy,” she shared in a devastating TikTok post.

“Please watch down on our future son. We love you.”

In the days after the alleged stabbing, Bree confirmed the news that her sister was pregnant.

“The rumours are true. My beautiful sister has been blessed with his baby,” she wrote, while sharing a picture of Taylor’s ultrasound.

“Congratulations big sis, with you every step of the way. Can’t wait to meet you mini Pele.”

Friends and family of Taylor also honoured her late boyfriend at a baby shower in July. Photos shared on social media pictured Taylor standing next to a large photo of Mr Faletolu, surrounded by pastel balloons.

At the teenager’s funeral, his mother Janice Faletolu said he had taken the job at the Sydney Easter Show in order to “save money for bub and Taylor”.

In July, NSW Police arrested and charged two 18-year-olds and a 14-year-old boy with murder in connection to Mr Faletolu’s death.

Police described the search as a “painstaking investigative process,” due to a lack of co-operation from associates and witnesses.

‘This and other recent acts of knife crime that we’ve seen were senseless acts of violence which have had devastating consequences for victims, their families, and also those allegedly responsible,” said State Crime Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Jason Weinstein at the time.

“I implore young persons to think carefully about their choices and the consequences of carrying or using a knife and encourage parents to speak with their children about the dangers associated with it.

“I don’t want to see other families devastated like this.”
