I was wondering why she kept scratching her ear, then the doctor pulled out a tick
“I had no idea what to expect and was so scared for our baby girl,” Jessica shares in the horrifying video.
After a fun and relaxing afternoon playing outside and gardening, Jessica decided to give her two-year-old daughter, Avery, a bath.
She was washing her face before she moved over to her ear, which looked red and irritated.
She thought her child had shoved something inside, so she decided to investigate further.

Doctor pulled out two ticks from daughter’s inner ear
In a TikTok, the American mum explained that she was concerned about her child’s ears, and “immediately” called Avery’s doctor.
“They said, ‘bring her in ASAP’,” the panicked mum explained.
While they were in the doctor’s office, Avery wasn’t acting out of character or in any pain. However, it all changed when “someone messed with or wanted to look in her ear”.
The mum showed a view of her toddler’s ear, which appeared red, irritated and sore. “I had no idea what to expect and was so scared for our baby girl,” she said.

Tick was “deep inside” daughter’s ear
Jessica held her daughter "tight"on her lap so "she wouldn't move” while the doctors continued to investigate the issue.
Then, finally, the doctor pulled out two ticks, and explained the parasites were “deep inside her ear”.
Jessica explained when the tick first crawled in and latched to the child’s ear, she “would not have been able to see it”.
The removal process was “traumatising” for both her and Avery, she said. “I hope she doesn’t remember it since she’s only two."

“I am obsessed with looking in my daughter’s ears now”
She was given a round of antibiotics by her doctor and a lollipop for her bravery. She was also tested for Lyme disease, a bacterial infection transmitted through ticks and mites.
Avery’s ear was bruised for three days after the removal, but mum said she was “doing just fine”.
“Welp, I’m gunna go check my kid's ears now,” wrote one horrified parent. “I am obsessed with looking in her ears now,” Jessica responded.
“My kids are never going outside again!” joked another.

Other alarmed people shared their experience with ticks as children. “I had one stuck in my ear when I was her age and they had to suck it out with a syringe,” one said.
“This happened to me as a kid as well,” another added. “Ended up with horrible motion sickness for years after.”
“New fear unlocked!” echoed through the comment section, with others sharing their dread with the mum. “Yikes, that’s so scary.”
