Queensland firefighters have been called in to carry out a delicate rescue operation, after a dog got stuck in a driveway.

Curiosity evidently got the better of Gypsy the jack russell terrier on Monday when she ended up trapped in a cavity beneath a concrete driveway, unable to make her way back out.

The panicked pup’s crying alerted owner Debbie, who called Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).

“Talk about a ruff Monday!” reads a QFES social media post from Tuesday morning.

“Our crews were met with quite the challenge when Gypsy the Jack Russell somehow got herself stuck in a hollow under her owner Debbie’s home.

“Firefighters could hear Gypsy crying, but couldn’t see her or coax her out.”

“After some careful listening they were able to narrow down Gypsy’s location and delicately break through the concrete before digging to the void.”

Photos attached to the Facebook post show a grateful Gypsy being held by a firefighter after the successful extraction, the dog seemingly unharmed despite the ordeal.

“No doubt the much-loved pooch is getting plenty of cuddles today!” concludes the post.
