A mum has revealed her “best Bunnings secret” for getting her hands on in-demand products while avoiding queues at the hardware giant.

In a post in the Bunnings Mums Australia Facebook page, one woman revealed she had discovered the best time to go to the store – and it’s not during Thursday night late shopping hours.

“My hubby was at home after a big week, so I took myself off to Bunnings on a Friday night,” she wrote.

The woman said she experienced “empty aisles, loads of relaxed and chatty shop assistants, loads of stock being put out for the busy weekend” – basically, any shopper’s dream.

“I could shop at my leisure (closes at 9pm at Gosford) and no queues,” she wrote.

“The only thing missing was glass of champers as I walked in. I think we should suggest this to Bunnings.”

The woman’s post soon got dozens of comments from other mums, with one person joking that they should make Fridays “Ladies night at Bunnings”.

“That’s when I go to Bunnings too; it’s great!” one person wrote, while another added: “I love going there on a Saturday night for the same reason.”

Others shared their tips on when to shop at the hardware chain.

“I work at Bunnings Far North Queensland and it is the best time to shop any night of the week except weekends of course,” one employee wrote.

“Tuesday and Wednesday nights are good too because of stock drops on Monday and Tuesday.”

“Always after dinner is best time to shop at Bunnings,” another person advised. “Or about 10am during a school week. Tradies have gone. Everyone else is at work.”

But one person didn’t mind going to Bunnings when it was busier, commenting: “I prefer during the day on a weekday to look at the good looking tradies walking around.”

Meanwhile mums living in Melbourne, where Bunnings has been closed except for click and collect for two months, just wanted to be able to walk around the store again.

“If only we could walk around a Bunnings store here in Melbourne,” one person wrote, while another added: “Stop it, you’re teasing me. I haven’t been able to go to Bunnings for eight weeks due to lockdown.”

Outside of Victoria, Bunnings stores that had previously reduced hours because of the coronavirus pandemic have now returned to normal trading times.

Most stores are now open until 9pm on Friday nights – although sadly it doesn’t look like there is any champers on offer.

But you can once again get your hands on the Bunnings sausage sizzle in NSW and the ACT, with Bunnings chief operating officer Deb Poole revealing the beloved barbecue is back in action at select stores.

Bunnings sausage sizzles have been available in Tasmania, Northern Territory Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia since July.
