A popular Kmart product that has been described as a “Dyson dupe” has gone viral again as the scorching summer weather leaves Aussies sweltering.

The discount retailer launched its Anko “Bladeless Floor Fan” to rave reviews in 2020, with many noting its likeness to much more expensive cooling systems.

After temperatures soared over the weekend, hitting highs of 44C in certain places across NSW, shoppers have turned to the affordable home appliance once again.

“Got myself this cute little Kmart fan because I don’t have A/C,” one TikTok user shared in a video.

“It was $99 and it’s actually not bad when it comes to the noise.

“And it also has four fan speeds on it, a timer, and an LED light. Pretty cool.”

The comments section quickly lit up, with many describing the affordable product as a dupe for the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool, which retails for $999.

“I love my knock off Dyson,” a customer stated.

“I got my last year and I love it,” one said, with another agreeing: “It’s great I have one too.”

Meanwhile someone else declared: “It’s so good.”

“Finally a Kmart product that looks decent,” one mused.

Some pointed out the fan, which is a new revamped version with an “attractive new design”, has gone up in price, noting it previously cost $89.

However most pressed for more information, asking whether the 85cm device was really was “as good as the Dyson”.

While she said she couldn’t give an honest answer because she’s never owned the Dyson version before, other commenters were happy to weigh in.

“Of course there are slight differences, but it’s fantastic for its price point,” one said.

“You can’t beat it for value,” another agreed.

Kmart said it had updated the device following its previous “success”, and had noted during the recent hot weather “sales have been really strong”.

“We developed two new bladeless fans this year, one priced at $69 and the other at $99,” a spokesperson told news.com.au.

“This new bladeless fan has a more attractive design with newly, independently developed technology offering new specs in a different size.

“Following the recent warmer weather, especially in NSW and WA, our sales have been really strong, with our customers loving the low noise at this price compared to similar items on the market.”

Consumer advocacy organisation CHOICE previously determined Kmart’s Anko pedestal fan to be “better performing” than the Dyson Cool Tower Fan.

“There’s nothing in particular wrong with the Dyson Cool Tower Fan, and it admittedly comes with added features you don’t get with the cheaper models, such as a timer and remote control,” CHOICE fan tester Matthew Tung said in 2019.

“But, it’s more than six times the price for something that essentially does the same job.”

It’s worth pointing out, the Dyson Cool Tower Fan, which retails for $399, is the cheapest of the British tech giant’s fan range.

The more commonly purchased Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool can also heat rooms as well as using advanced technology to clean the air in the process.

Anko’s bladeless fan doesn’t provide either of these additional features.

However bargain hunters appear unfazed by this, declaring the $99 product the “best fan I ever had”.

“A little noisy, but if you don’t mind white noise – well worth it,” one 5-star reviewer wrote on the Kmart website.

“It is a little louder than I expected but it makes the whole room cool unlike a pedestal fan,” another stated.
