Savvy home decorator transforms plain bathroom wall using $1 tape from Kmart
An Aussie mum with an eye for style has revealed how she saved hundreds on bathroom paint using this simple $1 trick.
A savvy home decorator has revealed her simple and stylish $1 hack for transforming her bathroom from drab and dull to on-trend and stylish.
The Aussie mum recently took to a Facebook group to share a series of photos showing how she decorated her bathroom walls using rose-gold coloured craft tape from Kmart.
Her stunning snaps show she cut the tape into two sizes before placing strips at vertical and diagonal angles which has allowed her to create a pattern not dissimilar to wallpaper.

“I thought I would share my Kmart washi tape hack I did in my bathroom – quick makeover that cost less than $1 (pack of ten tube is $5),” she captioned her post.
“I’m sure it’s not everyone’s taste but it was a fun creative change that was simple to do yet is so effective at changing a space up!”
She said the advantage of using the budget-priced tape was that it was easy to remove from surfaces and it didn’t leave marks or sticky residue.
The clever mum advised those wanting to try the hack at home to first wipe down the walls to get rid of any dust.
“I did my daughter’s room about two weeks ago it is still going strong and has only a slight peel up every now and then on a hot day and it sticks back down easily when you rub on it!” she said.
“The best thing is if I get sick of it in a couple of weeks it was such a cheap DIY that it’s no loss if I can take it down! It’s so fun to experiment with style and decor!”
Fans of DIY who’ve seen the mum’s post were quick to say they loved the idea and it was one they were keen to try.
One said: “Looks awesome … Kmart will now be out of stock soon in washi tape!”
Another said: “You are too creative, I love how this turned out!”
A third added: “This looks amazing! Such a fun way to makeover a room.”
It’s not the first time a wallpaper hack has transfixed the internet, with one woman’s hack previously sending social media into a spin.
Staysha Chritchlow, from the UK, revealed how she transformed a plain white wall in her son’s nursery using a cheap sponge and pots of paint.
She explained she had been inspired after seeing similar ideas for textured walls online, The Sun reports.
The savvy mum said it took her two hours to decorate the room – with the help of her sister – using a sponge, which cost £1.75 ($3), and paint dabbed onto the wall.
After photos were shared in a DIY Facebook group, members were quick to say how impressed they were by their stunning effort.
“That’s really cool, I might do that in my daughter’s room, she will have the biggest wall as a feature wall and I think I’ll do this on the other walls,” a mum wrote.
