The store is selling a budget version of a cult home item that’s proving so popular it’s being snapped up before it even hits shelves.
Who doesn’t love golden hour?
Well lots of Kmart shoppers apparently, with a new $25 product designed to emulate the perfect sunset sparking an absolute frenzy.
First popularised on Instagram and TikTok, the discount department store is now selling a Smart Wi-Fi LED Sunset Light.
The colour-changing lamp can create different shades of light designed to mimic everything from a sunny afternoon to the golden glow of the sun going down.
It’s Wi-Fi enabled, meaning it can be operated using your phone, enabling you to pick what shade suits your mood.
While Kmart isn’t the only retailer to selling cheaper versions of the trendy lamp, some can cost up to $60.
TikTok user @biancalemos_ posted a video telling shoppers to “run don’t walk to your nearest Kmart” for the lamp, sharing how she was able to transform her room with the light’s warm and cool tones.
The video has since racked up more than 1.5 million views in just over a day, so it’s safe to say Kmart shoppers are very excited about the new product.
However many predicted the demand would mean it would be “sold out” soon.
“Can you not share this with the whole world?” one person jokingly asked.
“Another thing that Kmart will already be sold out of agh,” another commented.
“I got one yesterday, I had to ask for one because they weren’t even on the shelves yet! I love it,” one shopper commented.
“No one go to Kmart until I get one, I swear to god I will go combat mode,” another wrote.
A Kmart spokeswoman told news.com.au: The Smart Wi-Fi LED Sunset Light is actively being rolled out in stores over the last 4 weeks.
“It has seen particular popularity in the last week, with customers absolutely loving the fun new style.”
Over the weekend Kmart also released its latest home living range which includes new kitchen, bedding and outdoor items.
The new collection was designed by Kmart buyers and in-house designers in Melbourne with natural colours and textures inspired by Australia’s flora and fauna the theme.
The range is also specifically designed to go with previous Kmart living collections, Kmart’s divisional merchandise manager Meryn Serong said.
“We strive to continue to offer our customers newness and keep them up to date with the latest trends, whilst still allowing them to be able to build on their existing homewares and purchase with purpose,” she said.
“We are so proud to be introducing this latest living curation to the community and we can’t wait to see the many ways in which our customers style, hack and use our products in their homes to create a place that is a true extension of themselves.”
Highlights of the collection include a $79 rattan coffee table, a $19 banksia framed canvas and striking jade cushions for $8.50.
