Big W’s $49 House & Home quilt cover set sparks shopper frenzy
The budget retailer recently released a limited edition range in stores – but shoppers are stripping shelves of this bargain bedroom item.
Big W sent shoppers into a spin when it announced last week it was selling a limited edition homewares collection.
With only a few days left in stores, the bargain superstore has revealed the $49 item shoppers have been snapping up in droves.
“Big W shoppers across the country have been inspired by images of the House & Home palm tree quilt cover set making the rounds on social media,” Teresa Rendo, the brand’s commercial general manager told news.com.au.
“This quality, cost-effective home range has been literally flying off our shelves and sold out in the first week of launch.”
The white linen House & Home “Getaway” quilt cover set is adorned with green palm trees and has caught the eye of customers, with many Big W fans taking to social media to show off the bedroom bargain.
One delighted buyer shared a photo of the tropical-inspired doona set on Facebook, writing “Big W delivering the greens”, and sparking a flurry of excited comments.

“I love this quilt cover,” one said.
“That quilt cover is so beautiful; will be heading in tomorrow to find one,” another declared.
“Your doona looks so nice,” someone else mused.
Others however expressed disappointment because the “stunning” set is only available in queen size.
“Why why why does this quilt cover not come in king size? Exactly what I’ve been looking for,” one said, adding a string of crying emojis.
“It’s gorgeous, but only in queen,” another stated.

Big W’s website states the cover is made from a “light cotton blend” that is perfect for the warmer months ahead. It also has a “seersucker texture” and is machine washable – so no hefty dry cleaning bills.
On Instagram, the reaction has been huge as well, with shoppers sharing pretty snaps of their beds styled with the beachy cover.
“How fresh and vibrant does this gorgeous room look,” one wrote.
“I love this quilt cover soooo much I just had to have it,” another said.
One styled the set with green cushions and a matching throw, leading some to ask: “Is the quilt really from Big W?”
Big W’s new homewares feature a range of affordable furniture, bedding and decor that are only on sale until September 16 or until sold out.
A selection of white bedroom and living room pieces featuring rattan panels have also proved popular in the spring-inspired range. The natural wood detailing is very on trend.
It’s “Nadi” items come in a bedside table, $69, a coffee table, $99, and an entertainment unit for $129.
There’s also a matching two-door sideboard available, priced at $99.
Among the many other items in the new collection were assorted linen, cushions and throws. A rattan bookcase, $99, was also proving very popular, as was a three-piece outdoor furniture set.
