Woman’s Bunnings bottle hack goes viral

A Melbourne mum has blown away TikTok with her clever bottle hack.

Ange, 41, had a bunch of old pasta bottles laying around at home and after seeing a photo of how one woman transformed them, she couldn’t help but give it a go.

She shared a clip of the simple process to TikTok which has since amassed more than 2.7 million views.

“I was so shocked,” the mother-of-three told news.com.au.

“I wasn’t expecting it at all. My kids keep checking it to see many views it’s got and the new followers it has attracted,” she laughed.

To give the bottle a stylish new look, Ange used matte black and rose gold paints from Bunnings costing $22 and a rectangular sticker.

She joked that the longest and hardest part of the process was cleaning the original sticker off the jars.

“Make sure the sticker is straight,” she begins the clip as she demonstrates how to achieve the “new bottles”.

“Spray thoroughly in black.”

She then spray paints the two lids in the rose gold. After the black paint has set, she peels back the rectangular sticker which creates a see-through space on the jar.

She fills one jar with walnuts and the other with pine nuts with the exposed area revealing what’s inside.

Ange has since created two more jars, adding that the spray paints can be used to transform “at least one hundred bottles”.

When some TikTok users asked her how she prevents the paint from scratching off, Ange said they just sit on her kitchen shelf.

“I am not using them for any vigorous activities and mine certainly have scratched off. I use them to store dry ingredients including sesame seeds and almonds.”

She described the overall look as “fantastic” and after seeing how good her first bottle turned out, Ange decided to record the process for the following bottles.

She also loves how they match her Russell Hobbs kettle and toaster.

Since sharing the clip just two days ago, it has been ‘liked’ more than 312,000 times with hundreds of people blown away by the “next level” hack.

“I LOVE this,” one person wrote.

“They look fabulous!! I did this with mason jars for pasta, I get compliments all the time,” wrote another.

“Now this looks like something I could actually do,” a third user said, while a fourth added: “Wow that’s awesome”.

While Ange wasn’t expecting the massive response, she said it’s perhaps because it’s such a simple, yet stylish hack that won’t break the budget.

“It’s simple, the end product looks amazing and I put really straightforward instructions.”
