Social media users in awe of ‘brilliant’ Bunnings hack
The woman took to Facebook to share how she transformed her bathroom for under $100 with just two products.
A woman has been praised for her “great way” of repurposing her bathroom with just two products from Bunnings.
The woman took to Facebook group Bunnings Mums to share how she transformed her bathroom with $80 worth of timber and Cabot’s stain, which ranges in price based on product size and style, to put a cover on her tub.
She said she hardly uses the bath and hates getting down to clean the dust out of the tub, adding she’d been wanting to do this for years but now she retired finally had the time to do so.
However, she did say the design was a little heavy to pull off the tub.
“My new bath cover all items from Bunnings. Love it, no more bending over to clean the dusty tub,” she said.
Social media users were impressed by the woman’s handy work, with some even suggesting they would be doing the same in their own homes.
“Oh I need one of these, bath doesn’t get used and like you said it just gets dusty all the time,” one user commented on the image.
“OMG I was thinking of the same thing. I have limited storage space and don’t want to take the bath out to maintain resale value (stupid I know that for some reason Australians still want a bath to never use),” another added.
Others with children said it was near impossible for them to do, but many with grown children labelled it “brilliant”.
Some pointed out while it was a great idea, it didn’t always go down as intended.
“I did this once. Unknown to me a big black spider moved in and built a nest in the drain hole,” one woman said.
“It was a she spider and one day we had a scene from a horror movie unfold as 1000s of baby spiders erupted from under the cover……. I have never fitted the cover back on the bathtub!”
The original poster said she had placed the plug in the drain to try and avoid this issue.
