Real estate agent praised for honest listing for $49K home
A Victorian real estate agent has been praised for his very honest listing of a dilapidated home in regional Victoria with a seriously cheap price tag.
A home that looks as though it has been abandoned has been listed for less than $50,000 – and many social media users are praising the real estate agent’s honest listing.
The agent listed the home in Beulah, close to 400km north west of Melbourne, for the five bedroom, two bathroom property.
Images show smashed bricks, satanic graffiti on the walls, clothes strewn across the house, a destroyed bath tub and dishes still in the sink.
The 1229 square metre property was put up for sale by NorthWest Real Estate.
“Is this the cheapest house in Victoria? This project is for the serious renovators and once you have filled numerous skips bins to get it back to a blank canvas you can see what you have to deal with,” the listing read.
It explained water was connected to the home and power was connected but is no longer.
“The bungalow is probably the best spot to start before you tackle the house. Yes there has been white ants and no we haven’t had any quotes to have it cleaned up and I have no idea what it will rent for once it has been renovated,” the listing read.
“All potential purchasers should do their own due diligence because you’ll need to watch more than a couple of episodes of the Block before you tackle this one.”
White ants are a termite that attack 180000 Australian homes every year.
The listing made its way to Reddit, where social media users praised the real estate agent for his honesty.
“For once I have to give the real estate agent points for honesty. That’s the funniest description I’ve seen in years,” one social media user said.
Another said: “A relative paid the same price for a freestanding home in Brunswick back in 1985. Look what that gets you today.”
“Best realestate [ad] I’ve seen – funny, honest and to the point . so many ‘treasures’,” another social media user said.
