‘Disgusting’ outcome of woman cleaning her hairbrush

Ever considered cleaning your hairbrush? Well, now might be the time.
A video of just how dirty it might be has gone viral on TikTok, with one woman sharing the “disgusting” outcome after she washed hers – with a sink full of grime left behind.
The UK woman, who posts under the handle @everything_tidy, was inspired to wash her brushes after another creator made a clip explaining that the dirt lurking inside your brush can result in dirty hair.
“I watched a video last week and it was a lady and she said, ‘Maybe the main reason why your hair is getting greasy or oily quickly isn’t, in fact, because of your hair follicles, and it is in fact because of your brush,” she said.
Testing the theory, she filled a basin with hot water and shampoo, and left the innocuous looking brushes to soak for an hour.
“So I’m going to put that to the test. I’ve put all my brushes in the sink and we’re going to leave them for a bit. I’ve used hot water and shampoo because she didn’t state what she used,” she said.
Returning to the basin, she – and the clip’s viewers – were disturbed by the find.
“So I’ve left them for an hour and come back to check the water,” she said, before saying: “Oh my God, that’s disgusting.
“Ladies, don’t forget to wash your hairbrushes. I didn’t even know that was a thing, but look at the state of that.”
In response, one person wrote: “*Goes and washes hair brushes now.”
Another complained: “We have to wash everything.”
But others declared they’d long been on the hairbrush washing bandwagon – and called out others for not doing the same.
“The fact that some of y’all don’t know how to wash your hairbrushes regularly is appalling,” one wrote.
“Wash your hair = wash your brush at the same time.”
“Just me who washes their brush when they wash their hair?” asked another.
“This confuses me that people didn’t know this. It’s the same as washing your makeup brushes,” wrote another.
