Do you throw out your bread once it goes dry? Well don’t because this “hack” will revive your stale loaves and save you money in the process.
A Sydney teacher has shared her “hack” for saving stale bread – with the 6-minute trick being labelled “genius” and praised for preventing unnecessary food waste.
Katie Lolas has amassed a social media following for sharing healthy food tips and her meal prep skills.
Most recently, the mum-of-one has been sharing a series of handy “hacks” she uses around the kitchen – including the easiest way to peel ginger and how to boil an egg in the airfryer.
However, the 35-year-old just dropped a video that detailed how you can bring your dry, stale bread back to life and it has been hailed a “game-changer”.
While it might sound impossible, Katie explained all you need is some water, a warm oven and 6 minutes on the clock.

How to revive stale bread
“Can you revive stale bread?” she captioned her video.
“I’m talking about other than using it for breadcrumbs, French toast or freezing it.
“Yes. You. Can.”
Katie then went on to explain that all you needed to do was pop the old bread under running water until it’s wet and then pop it into the oven 160C and for six minutes.
““BOOM. You will have a good-as-new loaf: Moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside.
“Give it a go and you’ll see.”
There was one exception to the method, with Katie warning not to do it on mouldy bread.
“Let’s just be clear though, bread that’s mouldy is beyond salvaging,” she said.
“Throw it in your compost it and move on.”
Social media blows up over trick
Katie’s 163,000 followers were seriously impressed with the age-old tip, with some stating they had tried it before while others explained it was their first time hearing of it.
“YOUR HACKS. OMG,” one person said.
“I do this all the time! Tastes just like new!” said another.
“Wow what a cool hack!” said a third.
Others asked if the trick could be used on other styles of bread as well as half-eaten loaves?
While Katie said you could “absolutely” use the trick on leftover bakery-style loaves it wouldn’t work for supermarket versions as those are pre-sliced.
