New Coles Local opens in Sydney CBD with ‘kombucha wall’
The supermarket has opened another one of its TikTok-famous stores with more than 500 offerings of the one item due to its staggering popularity.
Coles has opened yet another one of its TikTok-famous new stores – and it’s good news if you’re an office worker in Sydney’s CBD.
The supermarket yesterday unveiled its newest Coles Local – dubbed the “most bougie Coles” on York Street – and photos show no expense shared when it comes to ready made food and drink offerings.
The Coles Local features a “kombucha wall” as you enter the store as well as a whopping more than 500 different read-to-eat meals.

Among the dinners and lunches on offer are plenty of meat-free options after data showed inner city customers bought twice as much tofu compared to the average shopper.
Like other Coles Local stores the York Street branch has a mochi, macaron and gelato station as well as fresh juice and coffee available.
The York Street branch is the seventh Coles Local store, with the first one opening in Melbourne’s Surrey Hills in 2018 followed by Glenferrie.
There are now four Coles local outlets in Sydney, with the other three located in Rose Bay, Chatswood and Manly.
The first Queensland Coles Local will open in the Brisbane suburb of Ascot next month, with Coles chief sustainability, property and export officer Thinus Keeve saying the stores were a hit with shoppers.

“Every time we open a new Coles Local store the feedback from customers is fantastic, and we see that not just through increased sales but directly through major gains in our customer satisfaction scores,” he said.
“A key part of our property strategy is a tailored and targeted customer offer and our York street store has been customised using thousands of data points.
“The store has a bespoke layout focused on products that are most in-demand among CBD customers, complemented by innovations customers wouldn‘t expect to find in an ordinary supermarket.”
The “fancy” Coles Local stores went viral in a series of TikTok videos last year, with many shoppers lamenting the “bougie” supermarkets weren’t located close to them.
“THIS IS MY WORKPLACE! It’s honestly the best store ever,” one commenter wrote, while one person added: “I literally travelled an hour to go there the other day. Def worth it!”
