Recall issued for Woolies sausages over contamination concerns

There are concerns the sausages, sold at a major supermarket chain in one Aussie state, could contain “foreign matter.”

A brand of sausages sold at Woolworths stores in one Australian state have been recalled amid fears they could be contaminated with foreign matter.

The recall, issued on Thursday, concerns 1.8kg packets of Market Value 24 Thin Beef Sausages, which are only sold at Woolworths supermarkets in Western Australia, with a best before date of March 10 (10/03/23).

Food Standards Australia, who handle the nation’s food recalls, said the sausages may contain plastic, which could cause illness and/or injury if consumed.

The 1.8kg pack of Market Value sausages may contain plastic.

Consumers are warned not to eat the sausages, and return them to their nearest Woolworths for a full refund.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” said Food Standards in a media release.

The Woolworths website has the sausages listed as “out of stock.”

The sausages are made in Australia from at least 91 per cent Australian ingredients, and a 1.5 star health rating.
