One of Australia’s favourite chips has been pulled from the shelves in two states over contamination concerns.

Smith’s brand salt and vinegar chips have been pulled from shelves in certain states over possible contamination concerns.

Customers are being asked not to eat chips bought in NSW and QLD stores and to return the product for a refund.

The recall applies to Smith‘s Crinkle Cut Salt & Vinegar Chips in the 45g, 90g and 170g sizes, sold at retail outlets in those two states, with a best before date of 15 Jan 23.

It relates to the possible presence of plastic matter in some bags.

“Food products containing plastic pieces may cause injury if consumed,” a recall statement said.

Customers are asked to return the product for a refund.
