Two popular brands of almond milk have been urgently recalled over fears of a possible bacterial contamination, with people told to “seek medical advice”.

Milk Lab’s almond milk 1-litre cartons and Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Chocolate Almond Milk both have been contaminated with microbial particles, better known as mould.

The warning over affected almond milk products was issued by Freedom Foods who make a range of plant-based milks in its Ingleburn factory.

Milk Lab comes in cartons sold in various coffee shops and food service outlets while Almond Breeze is available nationally at Coles and Woolworths supermarkets.

The Milk Lab cartons affected are have a best before date of August 6 2021 in SA, while Almond Breeze items that need to be avoided have a best before date of April 27 2021.

Any food with this kind of contamination can cause illness, and people who may have consumed the almond milk who are concerned about their health are urged to “seek medical advice”.

Customers of these items can return the products to place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone seeking further information can contact Freedom Foods.
