Aldi pulls Thai coconut rice salad due to undeclared cashews
A supermarket chain has pulled a popular item from several states due to an undeclared ingredient that could cause a deadly allergic reaction.
Aldi has pulled a popular salad from its shelves over fears that an undeclared ingredient could cause allergic reactions.
The Fresh Salad Co Thai coconut wild rice prepared Salad 500g was urgently recalled from the supermarket chain on Wednesday.
The product was on sale at Aldi stores in NSW, the ACT, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.
The recall is due to the presence of an undeclared allergen (cashews).
Salads with the following use-by dates are impacted:
- Use by July 3, 2022
- Use by July 4, 2022
- Use by July 5, 2022
- Use by July 6, 2022
- Use by July 7, 2022
- Use by July 8, 2022
- Use by July 9, 2022
Food Standards Australia is concerned that any consumers who have a cashew allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if they eat the salad.
Anyone with a cashew allergy or intolerance should therefore not eat it and instead return it to any Aldi store for a refund of the purchase price.
