Aussies frothing as new Macca’s menu item is leaked online
McDonald’s fans are excited over a new addition to the Australian menu after it was shared prematurely online by a food blogger.
Australians are over the moon about several new additions to the McDonald’s menu after they were leaked prematurely online – including a collaboration with popular chocolate giant Cadbury.
The fast food giant is set to release a Caramilk Hokey Pokey McFlurry in the coming weeks.
Macca’s is also set to bring back the El Maco, a burger that was last available in 2019.
News of the new products appears to have been first revealed by the man behind Melbourne dessert company choclt, Nick Vavitis, who took to both Instagram and TikTok to share his knowledge.
Mr Vavitis said the items would be released on November 30 and run until January 2023.
McDonald’s marketing director Tim Kenward confirmed the menu additions, telling news.com.au: “We love that our customers are so excited about summer at Macca’s!”
“The early rumours are true. We’re bringing back the fan favourite, the El Maco and a deliciously exciting new Cadbury Caramilk Hokey Pokey McFlurry,” Mr Kenward said.
“At Macca’s, we believe great combinations make summer special and we have a few more surprises in store, so stay tuned.
“We can’t wait to come together for another Aussie summer!”
Some social media users instantly fell in love with the dessert before even trying it.
“Ooh now that would be interesting,” one person commented.
Another added: “Start the car.”
“That would be in my mouth at 12.01am the 30th Nov,” one said.
Another said: “This is all I want for my birthday.”
But others were less enthused by the addition.
“Unfortunately Caramilk loses its subtle flavour when combined with ice cream, I suspect this might be a fail like the first Caramilk McFlurry,” one said.
“Caramilk wasn’t very good last time unfortunately, hope this is better,” another commenter added.
Also in response, other McFlurry fans commiserated about a lack of banana flavours or a hope for the return of the Crème Egg McFlurry.
Many were also excited about the return of the El Maco, last seen in 2019 after vanishing from the menu in 2012.
The beef version of the burger consists of beef patty, cheese and tomato, sour cream and Mexican salsa.
