Oporto releases new range inspired by iconic Otropo burger
Oporto is dropping an entire new menu range dedicated to one ingredient widely considered “divisive” among Aussies when it comes to savoury food.
The debate about whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza has been waging for years – but one fast food giant is making a statement with a whole new range dedicated to the fruit.
Oporto’s Otropo burger, which features a chicken breast fillet, pineapple, bacon rasher, cheese, lettuce and Oporto’s creamy mayo, has been a staple of the menu for years.
Some firmly believe pineapple is a must-have ingredient on Aussie burgers while others consider it sacrilege – but, as of October 31, the burger and flame-grilled chicken chain has launched an entire range inspired by the burger.
The range features the Otropo Double Fillet Burger, which has an extra chicken breast, and the Otropo Bowl for $16.45 containing salad mix, grilled pineapple, spicy rice and new Otropo sauce.
There is also an Otropo Value Box for $15.95, which features a single Otropo burger with two crispy strips, small chips, new Otropo sauce and a drink, as well as a $5.95 pineapple and caramel dessert pack.
There are also three secret menu items that can only be purchased through the app, and are only available for a limited time, to celebrate the launch of the new range.
This includes the Otropo Rappa, which is $11.95 and features many of the ingredients as the burger, the churros and pineapple dessert pack for $6.95 and Otropo loaded fries, starring the brand’s iconic hot chips with mayonnaise and Otropo sauce.
The Otropo burger, which the new range is based on, has been the underdog of Oporto for years.
“Our Otropo Burger for the longest time has been the popular underdog on our menu, so we are beyond excited to bring the Otropo range to the forefront with some fresh, new additions,” Kristina Sutevski, brand manager at Oporto, said.
“The new range adds a whole new level of freshness and flavour to every meal”.
