McDonald’s US releases new $20 menu item Australians want here
An “expensive” new McDonald’s menu item has just launched in America – but the $20 price tag hasn’t deterred Australians who want it here.
McDonald’s has finally launched “Adult Happy Meals”, but you’re going to have to travel a very long way to get your hands on one – and spend a small fortune.
The fast-food giant has collaborated with a US fashion label Cactus Plant Flea Market (CPFM) to create a new twist on the classic kids’ menu item – however this time it’s for grown-ups only.
Customers can choose between a 10-piece McNugget meal or a Big Mac along with fries and a drink and it even includes a collectable toy. Prices vary across the country, ranging from around $9 ($A13.84) to $13 ($A19.98) – prompting some to complain about the “expensive” cost.
Understandably others are very excited, including Aussies who want in on the action which is currently only available for a limited time in America.

A video shared on TikTok showing off the “Adult Happy Meal” has garnered over 7.5 million views in less than 48 hours – and a string of comments from upset Aussies.
“Another thing Australian Macca’s won’t get,” one disappointed user wrote.
“We need this Down Under,” another pleaded.
And a third said: “Please Macca’s, give us Aussies an Adult Happy Meal.”
While there’s no word yet on whether McDonald’s will bring an Australian version to our shores just yet, it’s clear the collaboration with a brand that blew up in 2016 after Kanye West wore one of its slouch shirts is proving very popular overseas.
Twitter has exploded with posts from excited customers, who are already trying to collect all four of the toys – three of which are redesigned versions of the McDonald’s mascots Grimace, the Hamburglar, and Birdie with the signature “offbeat” style CPFM is known for.
The fourth toy is a brand new character named Buddy who looks like a McDonald’s employee.

In addition to the toys, you can also win and buy merch, which includes a hoodie, a T-shirt, an acrylic sign, and a chair, as well as an assortment of plushies.
However some questioned the price, with some stating it was simply “not worth it”.
That Happy Meal for adults is a rip off for that price

The adult happy meal at McDonald's is such a freaking rip off. They charge $12 for basically a toy. And I didn't see it till I got my total. They don't show the price on the menu. Really questioning my life rnð

Despite the mixed reviews so far, McDonald’s has stood by the new item, describing it as something everyone will remember.
“Everyone remembers their first Happy Meal® as a kid … and the can’t-sit-still feeling as you dug in to see what was inside,” a US McDonald’s spokesperson said in a statement.
“That little red box could turn a regular Tuesday into the best day ever. And now, we’re reimagining that experience in a whole new way – this time, for adults.”
