McDonald’s Australia brings back limited-edition menu item. Again

McDonald’s has announced the return of a popular limited-edition food almost a year after it was last on offer in Australia.

McDonald’s release four new sauces

McDonald’s has announced the return of its popular McSpicy range – leaving many of us asking: What do we have to do to make it a permanent addition?

The “limited edition” collection consists of two new burgers – the Double McSpicy and the Cheese and Bacon McSpicy – and of course, the famed fiery McNuggets.

The fast-food giant has been treating spice fans to the hot-as-hell menu items on and off for the last few years – only agreeing to give us the McSpicy burger on a full-time basis.

But it hasn’t stopped spice fans from begging Macca’s to serve up the selections all year round.

Here are just a handful of tweets from desperate McSpicy lovers:

For those who have had withdrawals, the extended McSpicy range is being offered up from May 24, in a bid to ease Aussies through our chilly winter months.

“The days are getting colder, and what better way to warm up than from the inside out with a little heat from Macca’s signature, succulent McSpicy range,” Lancy Huynh, group brand manager at McDonald’s Australia, said.

“Made with 100 per cent Aussie RSPCA Approved chicken in a crispy, mouth-wateringly spicy coating, the McSpicy range features bold, unique flavour experiences with a delicious kick that will be sure to spice up your life.”

For the uninitiated, Spicy McNuggets (definitely the most popular item in the McSpicy range) are just like the classic ones, but hotter – made with juicy Aussie chicken breast and coated “in a deliciously crispy and spicy tempura” that “will certainly tickle your tastebuds”.

Joining the Spicy McNuggets is the Double McSpicy – which is, as the name suggests, “double the spice, double the crunch” of the traditional McSpicy.

The best discontinued Aussie fast food

The burger consists of two Aussie chicken patties, marinated and coated with a range of spices, and then topped with mayo and lettuce.

If that’s not quite your thing, maybe the Cheese and Bacon McSpicy will be. Described as “the fiery McSpicy with a tasty twist”, it comes with the addition of Aussie Jack cheese and rasher bacon.

The returning menu items will be available in all Macca’s restaurants nationwide, including via the MyMacca’s app and McDelivery, for a limited time only.

The announcement comes just days after Macca’s dropped a “unique” new item on to menus to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the McCafé.

To mark the big three-oh, the fast-food giant has combined two McCafé favourites, and created the “Birthday Cake Latte”.

The “innovative” new beverage is only available for a limited time, and as the name suggests, features the signature smooth taste of an Aussie coffee combined with “delicious cake flavours”.

“It wouldn’t be a birthday without cake, so we are excited to launch the birthday cake flavoured latte and give our customers a unique coffee flavour to try as part of our anniversary celebrations,” Ms Huynh told news.com.au.

“Plus, we know coffee and birthday cake go hand-in-hand, so why not mix it in the same drink?

“We look forward to hearing what our customers think of the new flavour.”
