Fitness influencer reveals how to order ‘mini’ Big Mac at Macca’s

A Brisbane woman has confirmed a “rumour” about one of the fast-food giant’s most popular burgers – and Aussies are stunned.

'Actually amazing'- Macca's 'lasagne' recipe shocks

A fitness influencer whose known for sharing “hacks” to lower calories while still eating yummy food has shared a clever Macca’s trick.

Bec Hardgrave, 27, decided to visit a McDonald’s drive-through after hearing a “rumour” you can order a mini Big Mac at the popular fast-food chain by simply requesting an alteration to a standard cheeseburger dubbed a “mini Mac”.

Regular Big Mac burgers contain 563 calories while a single cheeseburger comes in at 313 calories.

While there’s no “mini Mac” on the McDonald’s Australia menu, a spokesperson told news.com.au “customers can absolutely customise their burger”.

“Macca’s menu is designed to be customised to suit taste preferences and dietary requirements.”

So how can you chomp down on a “mini Mac” during your next visit to the Golden Arches?

Hardgrave explained in a video shared on TikTok and Instagram, that all you need to do is ask to order a “cheeseburger like a Mac”, which will automatically instruct Macca’s employees to make the menu item differently.

The difference between the two menu items lies in the bread and meat quantities as well as a different sauce.

A Big Mac has two meat patties as well as an extra bread piece sandwiched between them, while a cheeseburger only has one inside a regular bun.

It also has Big Mac sauce and lettuce rather than the mustard and tomato sauce combo found on top of a cheeseburger.

Both contain pickles.

“This is the mini Mac,” Hardgrave states, showing off the customised cheeseburger.

“If you ask for it like a Mac and they don’t know what you’re talking about, you can literally say remove mustard and ketchup and add lettuce, add Big Mac sauce.”

The popular influencer then did a taste test with her mum Sharon while sat in the car and both declared it “yummy”.

As well as being lower in calories than a regular Big Mac – though it’s not clear exactly how many you save – Hardgrave said the trick results in a cheaper feed too as you only pay the cheeseburger price.

Fans of the Brisbane influencer have declared the hack “brilliant” – with some even calling for it to be a “regular menu item”.

“Why is this not on the menu for real?” one asked.

“OMG this is genius,” another said.

As one stated: “Oooo I need to try this.”

Others claimed the burger chain had previously run a limited-edition burger of a similar nature called “Son of Mac”.

“They used to sell this called ‘Son of Mac’,” one wrote.

“This burger needs to come back to stay – I have loved this since they released it years ago,” another agreed.
