Amanda Keller, Brendan Jones test ‘disgusting’ McDonald’s recipe

Two Aussie radio hosts have made a TikTok-famous version of lasagne – and delivered a surprising verdict on the taste.

'Actually amazing'- Macca's 'lasagne' recipe shocks

Aussie radio hosts Amanda Keller and Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones have made a TikTok-famous version of lasagne – and delivered a surprising verdict on the taste.

The “McDonald’s lasagne” went viral on the platform last month – consisting not of the traditional pasta and tomato ragu, but layer-upon-layer of Big Macs, fries, cheese, bacon and ham, McChicken burgers and a combination of tomato sauce and maple syrup.

Frankly, it looks (and sounds) like a monstrosity – a heinous affront to Italian food and the Golden Arches alike.

But when WSFM’s Keller and Jonesy gave it a go on their show – and documented the process – they came to an unexpected conclusion.

“It’s disgusting,” Keller said, as she mushed the Big Macs down into the aluminium dish, topping them with fries and shredded cheese.

“Why would you do this though?” Jonesy asked – the question on everyone’s mind – as the pair topped the first three layers with squirts of tomato sauce and maple syrup.

Adding strips of bacon and slices of ham, he added: “Good Lord.”

“We’re going to die,” Keller declared. “This is a serious recipe I saw … Have you called an ambulance? There’s a lot of calories in there … It’s so heavy.”

The piece de resistance of the dish was a layer of McChicken patties (sans buns and lettuce), and slices of cheese.

After 40 minutes in the oven, Keller pulled it out, saying it resembled “a war wound”, or, as Jonesy put it, “like [if] nachos and a lasagne had a car accident”.

Based on its appearance and ingredients alone, surely the only way it could taste was foul.

“Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness,” Jonesy said, taking a bite, apparently at a loss for words. “It’s … like, I don’t know, it’s like an orgy of foods in my mouth.”

“The maple syrup and the tomato sauce adds something to it,” Keller said, sounding genuinely surprised. “It is sadly spectacularly delicious.”

More than a thousand people took to the video’s comments, with the main takeaway being it was “definitely an American recipe”.

“No way would I eat this after they both put their hands on it,” wrote another.

“Love Maccas, but no! Definitely not!!!!” said a third.
