If two of your favourite foods happen to be the humble meat pie and a cheeseburger, then you’re in for the ultimate treat.

Coles’ “must-try” range of frozen pies hit stores nationwide just a few months ago featuring flavour mashups like the iconic cheeseburger and Mexican burrito — and shoppers are obsessed.

TV and radio presenter Alo Baker posted a TikTok video sorting through the range at his local store, asking followers if the products are any good.

And his post was immediately inundated with messages from customers raving about the new six flavours.

“Cheeseburger pie is so good, it’s a must try,” one shopper responded.

“The spicy burrito one is bussin,” said another, while a third added: “Burrito ones are mint.”

One person likened the burger pie to a “cheeseburger spring roll”.

Despite hitting shelves in May this year, some people had no idea about the products and were keen to give them a taste.

“Yum I want to try these!!” one person wrote.

“Oooohhh never seen these cool,” said another.

Others weren’t the biggest fans with one person saying while the burrito flavour was “f***ing incredible”, the cheeseburger pie “just tastes like pickles”.

However, if you're a fan of pickles this can also be good news.

News.com.au understands some of the flavour combos like spicy burrito and self-saucing tomato pies are the first of their kind in Australia and were developed to create a quick and convenient, no-fuss meal to warm-up with over winter.

The range is also locally made in Australia using 100 per cent Aussie beef with no added hormones and includes two vegan-friendly options.

But out of the six flavours which also include plant-based cheesy cauliflower and mushroom & lentil – it’s the spicy burrito pie that’s the most popular.

“We know our customers are increasingly excited about new innovative flavours, particularly when it comes to combining traditional products with a modern twist,” Coles’ category manager for dairy, frozen and convenience, Simon Mandelbaum told news.com.au.

“Since we launched our new frozen pie range, the spicy burrito has been most popular with our customers.”

Mr Mandelbaum said frozen meat pies are one of the most popular products in the freezer aisle with more than 7500 tonnes sold over the past year alone.

“The fusion of flavours in the new range allows us to deliver new and exciting meals that our customers haven’t seen before at Coles, and with the addition of two vegan options in our Nature’s Kitchen range we’re helping to make the range more accessible to all customers.”

The new pie range has been such a hit that YouTuber Greg, from Greg’s Kitchen, did a six-minute review of the cheeseburger pie, clocking more than 17,000 views.

His verdict?

“Oh wow, oh yum. This actually does have a taste that resembles a cheeseburger flavour. It’s not exact, mate it’s a meat pie so it’s not going to be exact is it but the flavour of this is really nice. Yummo,” he said while devouring the pie.

“The cheese in this has a sort of smokey flavour. I can sort of taste tomato sauce and mustard. “And you can hint of those pickled gherkin and the flavour altogether just tastes really nice.”
