Coles’ hot cross bun collaboration with Arnott’s announced

It’s no secret that hot cross bun flavours are getting more divisive every year, but the latest rumoured collaboration between Coles and an iconic Aussie brand is … very out of the box.
Food influencer @NectoriousPapi created excitement among fellow foodies after taking to Instagram to reveal that the supermarket giant has teamed up with Arnott’s to produce some new flavours of the beloved Easter baked good.
“I mentioned a few weeks ago Arnott’s is teaming up with Coles to collab for two new Hot Cross Buns Flavours – one sweet and one savoury,” he told his followers.
He claimed the savoury creation would be Pizza Shapes-flavoured hot cross buns, leaving social media users to hit the comments section with their thoughts.
“Pizza shapes are elite,” one person said.
Another labelled it “very interesting” while one simply shouted, “TAKE MY MONEY”.
Others weren’t sold on the idea of the unique new flavour hitting shelves.
“This is getting stupid now,” one social media user commented.
Another said: “If this is real … I’ll stick to the OG Pizza shapes.”
“This is so foul if it’s real,” another simply posted.
A handful of social media users said it was “too early for April Fools’ jokes”.
Others suggested the sweet flavour should be Tim Tam or Iced VoVo.
Coles is no stranger to a bold new hot cross bun flavour – last year, the supermarket revealed three new limited-edition varieties, including red velvet, carrot cake and a savoury burger sauce hot cross bun, complete with pickle pieces and cheese. In 2021, they released a Vegemite variety, which proved so popular it returned the following year, while 2020 saw the debut of lamington hot cross buns.
A Coles spokesperson confirmed there was indeed a collaboration between Coles and Arnott’s – but did not give any details on what hot cross bun fans could expect from the team up.
