Brilliant or brutal? KFC rejection letter shocks internet
A woman has shared the “brutal” rejection letter she received after applying for a job at KFC – and its contents left many shocked.
A rejection letter from KFC to a job hopeful has gone viral online – but the internet can’t decide if its “brilliant” or “brutal”.
British university student Sophie Corcoran took to Twitter to air her frustration at struggling to find work, claiming she had been turned down by the fast-food giant for lack of experience, despite having worked at KFC “for two and a half years” previously.
Accompanied with her tweet was the rejection letter informing Sophie she had been unsuccessful using an assortment of chicken puns.
It read: “We’re cluckin’ delighted you’re keen to join our flock, however at this moment in time your skills aren’t the secret recipe the Colonel is looking for.”
The letter didn’t end there, continuing on to tell Sophie to “give us a click” once she has “more experience under you wing”.
As you can imagine, it didn’t take long for the letter – sent by the Durham restaurant in northeast England – to go viral.
While some users found the letter hilarious, others perceived it as a “horrible mocking email” that had been written and sent in bad taste.
“What a stupid response from KFC. I hate letters like this. Why don’t they just get to the point and be honest instead of dressing it up,” one wrote.
“I’m more shocked by the bad puns, sure use them when you are offering someone a job, but in a rejection letter?” another added.
One outraged responder tweeted the global fast-food brand asking: “You seriously write rejection letters like this?! That’s how you treat people? Sort it out.”
That rejection letter is f**ked up.

What a stupid response from KFC. I hate letters like this. Why don't they just get to the point and be honest instead of dressing it up. I had many negative responses from job applications when I was younger.

But not everyone thought it was “next level harsh”, with some branding it “hilarious”.
Clucking hell thatâs hilarious

After attracting a huge amount of attention online, Sophie deleted her original post – but not before it had been shared hundreds of times.
KFC have not yet commented.
