Arnott’s reveals Australia’s favourite Shapes flavour

Arnott’s has finally settled the debate over which is Australia’s most popular Shapes flavour – and you may be very surprised.

They’re the iconic Aussie crackers that have been sustaining the nation through parties, footy finals and school lunches for decades.

But, when it comes to Arnott’s Shapes, the one question that continues to cause a heated debate is: Which is the best flavour?

In a bid to quash snack squabbles for good, Arnott’s has finally stepped in, releasing an official report based on a survey of 1002 Aussies, that discloses the nation’s most popular flavour of the savoury biscuit.

Some of you may be shocked, others perhaps not so much. But either way, the results will no doubt cause a bit of controversy.

If you’re confident Pizza came out on top, well guess again because the most popular flavour is, in fact, Chicken Crimpy.

It finally got ahead of Barbecue this year, after being toppled from first place two years ago by 2021’s runner-up.

Pizza came in second, closely followed by Barbecue in third place followed by Cheese and Bacon, Savoury and in last place was Nacho Cheese.

“Aussies certainly aren’t silent about their love for Chicken Crimpy on our socials,” an Arnott’s spokesperson told news.com.au.

“We see a lot of love for all of our flavours, but Chicken Crimpy is a firm favourite. We love to see Shapes fans debating over their favourite flavour especially when it comes to the epic rivalry between Pizza and Barbecue.”

If you’re wondering why Chicken Crimpy is such a hit, according to the spokesperson, it has a distinct flavour and texture that’s hard to ignore.

“With classic flavour notes, it’s easy to snack on and melts in your mouth.”

This is also the first time Pizza has marginally beaten Barbecue in the flavour battle, with Barbecue initially leading the votes as the number one flavour back in 2019, when Arnott’s first conducted a survey.

The current figures are from Google Surveys conducted online by Arnott’s between September 15 and September 16, 2021.

When it came to each state, Barbecue came first in Victoria at 24 per cent, while those in NSW still put Chicken Crimpy at the top of the leaderboard.

Tasmania was neck and neck with Pizza and Barbecue (30.71 per cent) almost equal first.

Queensland led the way with Chicken Crimpy (26 per cent) as their favourite, while Nacho Cheese was only picked by a few at 8 per cent.

Meanwhile, ACT residents are big fans of Nacho Cheese at 26 per cent.

In terms of what Millennials prefer, well that’s Pizza at 29 per cent and Chicken Crimpy at 20 per cent.

Those aged 65 and over are lovers of Cheese and Bacon while Gen Z followed the lead of Millennials and also picked Pizza (25 per cent) above Chicken Crimpy (22 per cent).

Gen X love Pizza best, followed by Chicken Crimpy and Barbecue.

Overall, women preferred Chicken Crimpy at 24.5 per cent and men thought Barbecue was best at 22.1 per cent.

So there you have it. Australia’s overall most popular Shapes flavour is Chicken Crimpy.
